Of course we all love our horses, but from time to time we can more than relate to Corb Lund's song "Horse Poor." Hope you get a chuckle out of it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mEJUEOq2G8

After many talks, the AEF has received further clarification from the GOA and AHS on the new restrictions and how they relate to Alberta’s equine community. While we know this may not be the news you were hoping for, let’s focus on the positive: we still get to spend time with our horses. <3 We are continuing discussions and as updates are received, we will be sure to share with our community! The AEF understands these are challenging times and everyone is looking for further guidance and direction including us. We understand the updated COVID-19 restrictions are not clear when considering equine operations and have reached out to the GOA and AHS on behalf of Alberta’s equine community. We have received notice of review and are expecting an update which will provide clarity on these new restrictions. We know the importance of maintaining the welfare of Alberta’s horses and are committed to speaking up for our four-legged friends. We thank our membership for their patience while we work to navigate and demand transparency for our industry.

Nominations for the 2020 AEF Annual Awards are OPEN! "Mandy, the 24 years old bay grade mare, is not the prettiest mare in the barn; but, she may just be the loveliest! At 24 years, Mandy works full-time in both the Little Bits Therapeutic Riding and Whitemud Equine Learning Centre programs. She is always the first one at the gate and ready to work. Mandy is a favourite of riders, volunteers, and instructors because of her gentle, caring nature and total commitment to the... job! Walk on Mandy, were the first words spoken by one little boy on the autism spectrum while aboard Mandy. Mandy reminds her riders that you don’t have to look perfect to be perfect.
