IMPORTANT ACTION ALERT! The Government of Alberta has an open public consultation - Wildlife Management and the Vision for Recreational Hunting. The landowner's and leaseholder's voice is in danger of being drowned out. We are the ones who feed and manage wildlife habitat and we are the ones who deal with recreational hunting pressures. Alberta Environment and Parks Minister Jason Nixon announced in a press release with Premier Kenney and Agriculture and Forestry Minister Dreeshen that the province will be taking measures to increase access to grazing and forage on Crown land in the face of the drought disaster. The province will be accepting subletting applications on grazing dispositions across the province. The province will also be opening up public lands for grazing and haying opportunities as well as keeping grazing reserves and allotments along the eastern slopes open longer to keep cattle on the landscape as long as possible. Environment and Parks representatives will be available through the phone line 310-FARM to help leaseholders through the process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4lxSFBkHSU

Please: 1) Use the link below to get to more information and also to access the survey. 2) Share the link around so that leaseholders raise their voice 3) Reach out to AGLA with your thoughts: [email protected]

Video posted by the province on the regulations to access grazing leases for hunting. Hunters need to complete the contact process - which includes receiving a deny or proceed response from the leaseholder. Showing up on your doorstep does not constitute appropriate contact as per the regulations.
