What we heard from Albertans at our pre-budget town hall: "Alberta is made for green energy projects. Diversification means economic stability. No more rollercoaster economy." What Albertans received: A budget with zero investment in diversification or green energy.
Alberta's budget is more than just numbers on a page. It's the school your children attend. It's the hospital you visit for cancer treatment. It's the long ter...m care home your father lives in. It's the small business in your community. It's the roads you drive on. Alberta's budget is your money. It should be your priorities.
We needed a plan for jobs. Instead, Budget 2021 is a plan for cuts. $632 million cut from healthcare in a pandemic. $160 million cut from schools. $750 mi...llion cut from municipalities. Who's going to pay for all this? YOU.
This year, 20,000 kids will enter the school system. Jason Kenney's budget cuts $160 million from their education. Students will get even less and parents will pay even more.
It’s budget day! This is the most important budget in Alberta’s history. We know it’s stressful so let’s support each other today. Be sure to tune in to Rachel Notley’s Facebook Live tonight at 7 p.m. for a full budget breakdown and how it affects you.
Jason Kenney rescinded the coal policy without warning, no form of consultation and in the middle of a devastating pandemic. We believe the Premier deliberately... tried to exclude Albertans from this decision. That is not leadership. Moreover, Reliable, transparent, and trustworthy consultation along with predictable, evidence-based decision-making, while sounding super boring, is actually a profoundly effective for sound economic growth. In contrast, secretive cat and mouse games combined with unending gaslighting not only create the anger but also leads to investment uncertainty and puts a chill on growth. The UCP should stop doing that. https://www.albertandp.ca/restore-Lougheed-Coal-policy
To ensure full participation in economic recovery, the foundational infrastructure to get parents - particularly women - back to work is critical. Universal, qu...ality, affordable, and accessible early learning and child care is that infrastructure. A robust and sustainable early learning and child care sector is necessary for Alberta women to be able to return to work, increase their hours of work, or pursue training for new employment opportunities. Government investment in new or expanding work opportunities for women will be ineffective if early learning and child care supports are not in place for women to access these opportunities. This means early learning and child care must be affordable and flexible to meet the needs of Albertans, in all areas of the province. The early learning and child care system also needs to be grounded in the principles of quality early learning. This means supporting child care operators in meeting high standards of early childhood education. The primary indicator of quality early childhood education is the qualifications and ongoing professional development of early childhood educators.
CALL TO ACTION: EMAIL THESE MLAs Jason Kenney made a reckless bet on the US election -and he still hasnt released the FULL details of the Keystone deal. We don’t rely on wealthy donors to push back against the UCP and their incompetence. We rely on you. With your support, we can keep their feet to the fire, wh...ile building the best election team and machine this province has ever seen. #abpoli #ableg https://secure.albertandp.ca/page/contribute/cbuf
One number I want to focus on in our donations from 2020 is the amount raised from individuals contributing less than $250. $1,681,497.37! This shows the truly grassroots of our movement. Thank you to every person who donated. Let's keep it going www.albertandp.ca/social
