When Albertans hear the Lougheed name, they likely think of late premier Peter Lougheed. Others may may also be familiar with his grandfather, Sir James Alex Lougheed. It's Métis Week! We are grateful to Matt Hiltermann and Métis Nation of Alberta - Region 3 for sharing their knowledge and research with us. Through an extensive search of census records and archival material, Matt tells the story of the many Métis families who lived at the confluence of the Bow and Elbow rivers, and who contributed to the social fabric of Rouleauvilleone of Calgary’s oldest neighbourhoods. Although we are unable to celebrate together in person, the Metis Nation of Alberta and Métis Nation of Alberta - Region 3 have scheduled a full week of virtual videos, presentations and memorials for us to enjoy and learn from, from the comfort of home. We hope you have the opportunity to take in some programming! https://albertashistoricplaces.com//the-metis-of-rouleauv/

The museum has found a parts vehicle to help with the restoration of our 1958 Canada Diesel Heavy Tractor Truck! We had previously thought that our truck was th...e sole survivor, but a friend of the museum located this one in Regina, Saskatchewan. It is nearly identical to ours, other than a slight variation in the shape of the grille. This truck will not only supply hard-to-find parts but will also act as a template in the reassembly of our Canada Diesel.
