Alcona Dog Park 20.11.2020

This was posted earlier on a rescue group page and felt it was important to warn everyone to be careful ! Message from a Barrie pet owner: I thought I'd post a PSA. Last night Bandit and I ended up at the Huronia Emergency Vet. He collapsed and refused to get up at home just after 10PM. I brought him over and we did an exam and determined he had some form of toxin in his body. A urine test showed he had ingested narcotics. We were at the Sunnidale park and dog park before tha...t, which is the only place he could have eaten something. Apparently a lot of dogs have been getting sick at Sunnidale lately, so I thought I'd let everyone know maybe it's an area to avoid. The vet tech and vet who helped last night stated that marijuana and opiate intoxication in dogs is becoming quite common lately. They've had cases from trails and dog parks all over Barrie. He seems better this morning, and in the last hour and a half he's really seemed to perk back up but it was a rough night. His symptoms included collapsing and having an extremely hard time getting up. Vomiting Losing control of his bladder (dribbling pee whenever he went) Not being able to stand or walk without falling or extreme imbalance. Extreme body twitching / jerking anytime you went near him or made a noise. Shaking and swaying while trying to sit up or lay. Extreme but delayed reactions to sensory input. It was pretty scary, but thankfully it turned out fine. Just be extra vigilant out there and hopefully this post can help someone recognize the signs. It started about 4 hours after the assumed time of ingestion. He was on leash on the trail, so there's a pretty good chance it was in the actual dog park.

Lack of care and comfort is the saddest state for any innocent creature. Heartbreaking. Any information would be appreciated.

Reposted from Jenn Mt Pleasant of Brantford (226) 388 3451 Looking for help. ... I am a registered pet sitter located near Brantford, Ontario. On December 22 I was contacted by a lady through my online account for my business. She told me she was looking for a last minute sitter for her dog. Her regular sitter cancelled out on her last minute. She told me she was travelling to West Virginia for the holidays and that she'd be back on the 27th of December to pick up her dog. She told me she was coming from Kitchener. With her, was her partner/husband and a small child. She arrived at night. I did not get a license plate number but they were a young couple, maybe early to mid 30s. They were driving a black SUV type vehicle. Older model. She never showed up on the 27th to get her dog. And I still have him. I contacted my pet sitting company who I am insured under. They told me the name she gave me matched her credit card and payment went through so they found it odd that she never showed up to pick up her dog. It's been 11 days now that I've had their dog. No word from them. Their phone is either shut off or disconnected. But if they are still in the States then that may be why their phone is still turned off. They told me they were coming from Kitchener when they dropped off the dog. But I 411'd their cell phone after they didn't show up and it zoned in on an area in or around Barrie. There are a few possible scenarios here. One is that they decided to stay in West Virginia a little longer then expected. Two, is they abandoned their dog with me. Three, is something could have happened to them. A car crash maybe. So I'm pleading to the public now, if you know these people, please message me. I am worried that something may have happened to them. This is the only information I have for them: Owner's name is Nicole Miller, her partner or husband's name is Charlie. They drive a black SUV type vehicle. They have at least one small child. Their dog is 10 years old and his name is Gunner. He's a black lab retriever. The cell phone number they gave me was 705-795-89XX. If anyone knows this couple, please contact me ASAP. Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.
