This blue always gets me

Something a little different. I find framing the biggest challenge in this artwork. To find something that has a lower impact and still fits with the look and style of the leaf. I acquired a small selection of these vintage frames second hand and I’m excited to see how they all come together! This one is finally up online and more are to come along throughout the year

Happy Saturday friends! This piece will be in a frame soon but in the mean time, here are 5 facts about Spotted Owls (Strix occidentalis) you may not have already known; 1. There are 3 subspecies - Northern Spotted Owl (west coast), Californian Spotted Owl and Mexican Spotted Owl 2. They do not build their own nests and instead use cavities, snags or abandoned raptor or squirrel nests... 3. They are one of the few owls with dark coloured eyes (most have yellow-orange eye colours) 4. The oldest recorded wild Spotted Owl was 21 years of age (she was first banded in Oregon in 1988) 5.
