Office Closure Announcement Dear patients, In order to protect our community, our patients and staff, Aldergrove Optometry will be following the recommendations from the Ministry of Health and suspending all routine and non-urgent eye care, effective March 19, 2020, until further notice. ... Dr. Andrew Chan and Dr. Judy Lee will be available for urgent eye issues. Computer Vision Syndrome, also referred to as Digital Eye Strain, has become more prevalent as a result of prolonged computer, tablet and cellphone usage. It is a group of eye and vision related problems, such as eyestrain, headaches, blurred vision, dry eyes, neck and shoulder pain. Causes of the above symptoms include (combination of): - poor lighting - glare from a digital screen... - improper viewing distances (usually too close) - poor seating posture - inaccurate reading glasses prescription To prevent eyestrain, we recommend resting your eyes every 20 minutes by looking into the distance for 20 seconds, this is known as the "20-20 rule". Also, making an effort to blink frequently while you're using the computer can minimize the development of dry eyes by keeping the front surface of your eyes moist. Talk to us if you think you suffer from computer vision syndrome. Photo credits: American Optometric Association.
