Welcome Back! We are happy to inform you that we are now able to once again provide dental care for you and your family. When we see you for your next appointment things will be a little different.... * we will ask you some screening questions before your appointment * our office staff will let you know how to come into the office and what to expect * we have hand sanitizer at the front reception area for you to sanitize your hands when you enter * our waiting room will no longer offer magazines or children’s toys since those items are difficult to fully disinfect * appointments will be spaced out to allow for social distancing * you may be surprised that we are wearing more protective gear ie: masks, face shields, gowns, head coverings than we normally do during your visit Rest assured all of the procedures are designed to create the safest environment for you, other patients and our team. We look forward to seeing you again. If you have any questions please let us know. Thank-you for your patience and loyalty throughout this time. Caring for your Oral Health during the Holidays This time of year can be hard and challenging when it comes to healthy eating. As with all good things moderation is the key. Sugar: can be delightful but a nightmare on your teeth! Sucking on candies is an example. These treats bathes your mouth in sugar because it takes time to dissolve. A better option would be plain chocolate as it would dissolve more quickly. ... Starches: can also be tempting ie: pasta, mash potatoes, chips, but these starchy foods can get stuck in your teeth and break down into sugars which cause tooth decay. Spirits: Alcohol is not good for your mouth. According to the Oral Cancer foundation heavy drinking is the second largest risk for developing oral cancer. Wine is sugary and can stain your teeth. Champagne has high levels of carbonation which can erode tooth enamel. Stress: Whether it’s hosting the party, financial or loneliness, the holidays can be very demanding and disrupt our emotions and oral health. Here are some tips for caring for your teeth: Floss Daily! It’s important to get the food stuck from between your teeth. Drink lots of Water! It’s your best line of defence! Water can help neutralize the acids and wash away the sugar. Tooth friendly snacks: eat plenty of fresh vegetables, cheese and shelled nuts
