Since our arrival in the Eeyou Istchee Baie James region, I was looking to capture a sharp tailed grouse. Last spring I was successful at sighting them for the first time. Last November, I successfully harvested 5 of them. Today, now that the small games season for this species is closed, I successfully made a approach on one individual and makes a photograph. ... For those of you that doesnt know, this species is enlarging his distribution on the eastern bound of canada. They arent that common in our area even if we see more every year. .. Depuis notre arrivée dans la région d'Eeyou Istchee Baie James, je cherchais à capturer un tétras à queue fine. Au printemps dernier, j'ai réussi à les apercevoir pour la première fois. En novembre dernier, j'en ai récolté 5 avec succès. Aujourd'hui, maintenant que la saison de chasse pour cette espèce est terminée, j'ai finalement réussi à faire une approche sur un individu et en faire une photo. Pour ceux d'entre vous qui ne le savent pas, cette espèce élargit tranquillement sa distribution vers l'Est du Canada. Working with the peregrine falcon over the past six years has allowed me to collect a ridiculous amount of photos of these amazing birds! I recently went through my photo catalog year after year to find photos that I would have missed so far! Here is one! This male was known to fly very low while not being aggressive at all! As you can see, he wears identification rings since we captured him at the beginning of June 2016.... This one was still nesting in the area when I left Rankin Inlet in 2018. The good news ! I probably have several hundred photos of this individual, just as magnificent as the others.
