We at the Algoma Conservatory of Music are proud to say we have been working hard to make sure that the school is Covid regulations compliant and that you have a safe space to return to for your music education. Our Fall semester begins today and we can't wait to help you meet your musical goals! Make sure when you arrive to wear your mask at all times and maintain social distancing. Hand sanitizer and protective barriers are on site and in studios for lessons. Welcome back, let's make some music!

When we had to shut down in-person lessons in March, this unfortunately meant the end of ensemble rehearsals for the year. This being the first year of existence for our current Jr. Guitar Quartet, we didn’t want to let that stop us from sharing some of the work we had been preparing up until that point. These hard-working students continued to work on their repertoire individually in their on-line lessons, recorded their parts at home, and sent them in to their teacher to be assembled. It’s one thing to lock in to a performance in person, and another challenge altogether to recreate ensemble repertoire at a distance. Congratulations to Oliver, Noah, Graham, and Owen for all of your work. Please enjoy the Algoma Conservatory Jr. Guitar Quartet’s Year-End Performance - Distance Edition.

From: Guy Traficante - Principal, March 22, 2020 Algoma Public Health is requesting assistance in amplifying two important messages - so we are sending it to all of our Contacts and posting on FaceBook. It would be helpful if you would copy and paste the information and also post on social media or send it to your contact list - or that of a business or organization that you are part of. Together we can quickly reach the whole city. The message is simple and urgent - and ...we must all comply with it to be fully effective. Media reports suggest that some people do not fully understand the need for social distancing, the considerable threat to the elderly and people with underlying medical conditions, and that returning travelers must go directly to their homes to self-isolate without any stops such as at a grocery store. Please read the message below - and thank you for assisting in passing this important information along. At the bottom there is also a link to the relevant page at Algoma Public Health. Algoma Public Health is asking our community members and leaders for help to amplify two important messages: (a) all returning travelers to Algoma must stay home and avoid going out for 14 days; city services are available to help with groceries, etc. (b) everyone must practice social distancing by staying 2 metres apart and avoiding close contact with others outside of their immediate family. People who are elderly, or who have underlying medical conditions should also stay home as much as possible. Please see the webpage below for more details on these two messages, including large font handouts and signs that can be posted, and simple bullet-form information that can be communicated by telephone.
