The moose tag allocation process provides hunters with more choices when applying! The previous tag draw system limited hunters to apply for only two choices of... tag type. The new process will allow hunters to enter up to three choices in each of two allocation stages. An example of a tag choice may be a bull tag for the bows only season in WMU 48. Each tag type will be allocated separately based on first, then second and then third choices in either allocation stage. Your second choice will only be considered if tags are available after all applicants that selected that tag type as their first choice have been awarded a tag. Your third choice will only be considered if tags remain available after all applicants that selected that tag type as their first choice and applicants that selected it as their second choice have been awarded a tag. Tags will be allocated from highest to lowest number of points. A random draw will be used to break ties when there are more applicants with the same number of points than the number of tags available. Learn more at ontario.ca/moosetagprocess

Under the new process, most allocation results for moose will be available much earlier! In 2021 the results of the primary allocation where high demand tags ...are likely to be allocated will be available to hunters mid-May, much earlier than the past availability of draw results in early August, allowing most hunters more time to plan their hunt. The results of the second chance allocation will be available early August. General deadline dates for the 2021 moose tag process are now available at ontario.ca/moosetagprocess. Exact deadline dates will be available each April in the Hunting Regulations Summary at ontario.ca/huntingregulations

Hunters: Have a safe season! Don’t trespass. Obtain permission before hunting on private land. Carry the necessary licences and tags. Wear the appropriate... hunter orange (thanks to @carlydawn for sharing hers!) If hunting from a tree stand, wear a harness. Be aware of your target and beyond. If you encounter another hunter or conservation officer in the field, stay 2 meters apart and wear a mask if physical distancing is not possible. Check for local public health restrictions and plan your hunt to meet public health guidelines. #HuntSafeON Find more hunter safety information at ohep.net/info. #fishwildlifeON #huntontario #deerhunting #deerhunter #ontario #hunting #deer #huntinglife #whatgetsyououtdoors #ontariohunter #biggamehunting #huntereducation #OHEP #ontariohunters #huntON #huntsmart #huntsafe #learntohunt #huntingtips #huntingcourse #onlineresources #MNRF #lovetohunt #getoutdoors
