I just finished a great course all about early literacy skills! Did you know that children entering kindergarten with weak code-based skills (phonological awareness, print knowledge, and emergent writing) have a significant risk of long term reading difficulties? That’s why it’s so important to start developing literacy from the time that our kids are babies and to screen for difficulties in pre-literacy skills before kindergarten!

Hi all! I'm putting together an FAQ list for my fb page. Please send me any questions you may have about speech-language pathology/development and I'll start compiling a list! If you have any parent friends, please let them know they can also send their questions. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post your questions publicly. I'll do my best to answer all questions individually and post the most common Qs on my FAQs. Thanks!!!

I've been getting a lot of questions about warning signs, or what you should look out for if you're wondering about your child's speech and language development. Here is a link to The Hanen Centre's warning signs: http://www.hanen.org//When-You-Are-Conc/Warning-Signs.aspx If you're concerned or even if you're not sure, give me a call to discuss! Early intervention leads to successful results!

Just came across this great article! http://www.thespeechdynamic.com/blocks/ Please share with parents of little ones in your lives... Ever notice how your child does more or says more after the toy stops? Too often do I see kids mesmerized by electronic toys rather than developing interaction skills by playing with their toys!
