Photographers in Manitoba are a pretty tight community. And there's one thing all of us want... to get back to our clients. We can do it safely and within provincial health guidelines. All of us think that your milestones and memories are worth fighting for. So we will keep fighting.... #welovembphotographers #mybusinessisnotahobby
All we want is to get back to our clients. We can do it safely. We book online. We take payment online. We wear masks and distance during sessions.... We can contact trace. We deliver galleries online. I haven't seen my precious clients since October. I've had to cancel or postpone sessions, some that are time sensitive (newborns don't stay new for long, as every parent knows)... And I'm lucky. I still have a day job. For many of my colleagues, this is how they feed their families, pay their mortgages, pay their bills... All we want is to work. #welovembphotographers #mybusinessisnotahobby
Sorry friends. Still closed. Reading through the new orders and from the looks of it, photographers are still a no go... I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it. (If I find out otherwise I'll let you know...)... 3 more weeks...
I'm no nature or fine art photographer... I'm a people photographer. But when I'm not allowed to photograph people, I'm left with no choice but to push my boundaries.
@manitobagov : hey, photographers! You're not essential. You need to shut down. Photographers: ok cool. This sucks, but we want to keep our clients and communities safe, so we're game. @manitobagov : perfect. Team Manitoba all the way.... Photographers: thanks for the support during the shut downs by the way! It really helps with our overhead costs that don't stop just because we can't take clients. @manitobagov : yea... About that. You don't qualify unless you have a physical studio. Photographers:...... but.... Hey! You said ALL small businesses that were forced to cease operations... That's us too! @manitobagov : Photographers: #mybusinessisnotahobby **Editing to add that it's not just photographers affected by this decision. There are so many industries that don't inhabit a physical location and yet still provide Manitobans with wonderful services! Videographers. Make-up artists. Wedding planners.Officiants. DJs. Entertainment providers... The list goes on....
This stings. Government: photographers, you're not essential so you need to shut down. Photographers: Ok cool. We want to be part of the solution and get back to our clients as soon as possible so we're game. Government: Good. But we won't help you (unless you have a physical studio space, which most of us don't).... This stings a lot.
Well, poop on 2020 and the cancellation of our annual K9 Advocates Manitoba Santa photo fundraiser..... *OR SO WE THOUGHT* Cue "Virtual Pet Photos with SANTA"! Follow the instructions below to get yours! Share this far and wide and let's get some much needed funds into the hands of this amazing animal rescue.... //These don't just have to be for pets! We can do them for your kids, grand kids or you and your partner!// *housekeeping note, please don't send me professional photos as I don't have permission from your photographer to edit those* My goal is for us to raise $1000 for them before the holidays hit, and you can help us get there!
Small businesses are hurting. Even more than lockdown 1.0. My challenge to you is this: 1) choose your top 3 favorite local businesses.... 2) go to Google or their social media and leave them a thoughtful review. 3) share this challenge. Easy peasy. Costs zero dollars. Takes 15 minutes or less. Will give them a moral boost (And while I know these things won't help pay bills right now, it just might help boost exposure and name recognition long term). I'll tag my three reviews in the comments. You're welcome to do the same. Who's in??
