Love the concept of eating what you buy/grow. I always have a food scrap bag for soup, broth, and smoothies in the freezer if food isn't going to be used fresh before it's time is up. I find it's a little more deciding what's for dinner based on what needs to be eaten, instead of what I feel like eating. It's such a luxury to have so much food - let's not waste it!

This year's Dirty Dozen has been released! A great guide to determining where it's most important to put your organic produce dollar. But I really love the Clean 15 list - then I know these foods like avocados, pineapples, and onions are still super great for me in their conventionally grown form. Do you use these as a guide to your organic shopping choices?

Food waste is a big pet peeve of mine. This is a great video about simple things that people and places are doing to decrease food waste. I always decide what's for dinner based on what needs to be eaten first. And if I may not get to a food before it's prime is going to pass, I will wash, cut, and freeze it for soups or smoothies. Just think about how much less money you would need to make if it didn't just go in the garbage or compost!

This is a pretty bang on op-ed piece about the new food guide. The biggest challenge is there is no one-size-fits-all diet for everyone, and not even a perfect diet for each of us to last our whole life! Paying attention to the body's signals and symptoms is a pretty awesome way of determining if your current choices are right for you. https://vancouversun.com//opinion-is-canadas-new-food-guid
