. I keep thinking that the more I learn, the more I'll believe in ONE thing. > <... It's actually been the opposite. As I move through more and more education, the more I believe in the power of our dynamic and resilient bodies. Do a lot of things, in a lot of different ways. Ride a bike on a trail. Ride a bike on a road. Walk fast through the streets. Walk slowly through the trees. Skip down the streets with your friends. Lift weights so heavy you can't brush your hair the next day. Lift weights so light you can do 100 reps. Try the weird equipment at the gym. Use the tried and true favourites too. Dance on the grass with headphones on. Dance in the studio with perfect formation. Chase your dog when they jump the fence. Run away from your dog when they want the ball. Do fast sweaty hot yoga. Do slow sleepy cozy yoga. Stretch on the floor watching TV. [ ]. If there's any place in the world that you should put on a face and project as someone else, it's the gym. What, Alisha? Why would you say that? ... Let me explain. A habit or routine only sticks if it fits in with the type of person you want to be. If you haven't been successful with integrating a new habit, it's probably because you don't think of yourself as the type of person who does that habit. What is your self-talk like? "I'm so lazy." "I'm not good at working out." If that's what you believe about yourself, then it's not going to happen. But, if you fake it until you make it, along with using the power of self-talk, eventually you'll start to really feel it. "I'm the type of person who is athletic." "I'm the type of person who feels powerful in their body." When it comes to gym gear, wear clothes that make you feel badass. Or whatever else you want to be. If you're wearing pants that are see-through when you squat, you're going to be distracted and uncomfortable. If you're wearing pants that make you feel like catwoman you're going to exude that confidence and it will impact your training positively. Training in these headphones and hat make me feel formidable. Do I feel formidable every day? No. But I'm working on it!
