Alive Fitness and Wellness 21.10.2021

Training gets a little weird sometimes when you are exploring the body. As our team grows coaches bring in new philosophies, concepts, and training systems. With a new addition to our team, @wesleyhamilton2 who has committed over a year and half to strictly @goata_loco training system he has brought in new fresh perspective. When you see him move you cannot deny that the system works, because you can just see how explosive, quick and supple he moves. We always knew the i...mportance of the feet, and how the training system really emphasizes on it along with the giro system of the body. However, the one thing that really shifted my paradigm was bringing my awareness to the importance of the back chain dominance. I knew it was happening, but I became too front chain dominant and even though my back/lats were growing I was lacking in my back chain. So I began to reflect on my past exercises and I remember this exact one that helped me Lengthen my spine Create space in my humeral joint (increasing shoulder health) Engage and reconnect to my back chain (calves, hamstring, glutes, and erectors) I also began to recall when I performed the best in my life, when I was explosive, quick, strong, and what I felt like I was untouchable. It was when I was back chain dominant, but as I dive into other systems maybe out of my own ignorance I was becoming more front chain dominant. So after the last couple days I have been strategically, and intentionally engaging my back chain more which properly diaphragmatically breathing to maintain tension in my core I can say my body feels more open and stronger. The lesson is always be willing to reflect, reevaluate, and recourse your plan of action. Pain is a call to action, but suffering is an option Now just to clarify there are two types of pain that I will refer to, the pain where you feel acute or sharp sensations do not lean into, but the pain in which I speak about is going beyond the boundaries and parameters we set for ourselves. Where our minds give up because we are in a state of suffering before our bodies, our spirit do. In order for us to expand we must make a demand ... PAIN is a call to action, an indicator that something needs to or is going to change by our call to it. For some we give a negative meaning to pain, that it is harming us, that It is hurting us so we shy away from it, try to cope with it, and supress the neurological pathway that tells us there is something. Together as we reframe the pain, and learn to sit with it in Perfect Peace. We begin to stretch ourselves out of our boundaries, what is comfortable and expose what is truly there. Either something needs to be healed, revealed, expressed or there is just some growth that is about to take place. Keep pressing beyond your boundaries, sit in what is uncomfortable physically, mentally and spiritually. In doing so you will experience pain, you will experience discomfort and in that experience you can also have a sense of rest and perfect peace. Pain is a call to action, but suffering is an option - So what is really happening here? The shakes are a sign of Neurological reprogramming of Motor patterns. As you take your body into new end ranges of motion, lengthening and loading fibers differently they will either respond this way or end up cramping. Why do we need to reprogram new motor patterns? The results we have right now are created by our current motor patterns as they are our habitual movement, and well if you want you to produce different results you need to create new patterns. When do you want to create new patterns?

Not one glute was squeezed! With our philosophy we do not concentrically load the glutes, instead we move on a systemic level and allow the tissues to isometrically load as they move through the movement. The load on the tissue is different, as you won't feel that "tight" concentric feeling as you squeeze the glutes but you will feel the glute load differently and when done correctly you will experience shakes. The burn is much deeper, the pump lasts longer and the beauty... is that you won't feel out of commission the day after. To the world, our current students and to those of you who actually end up reading this I just want to show my appreciation to you. ... Just like you, in order for us to wake up we must have a wake up call, and for some of us it happens sooner than others, while others may have got their call yet and well for me it happened when I was 18. When I was going through some of the hardest times in my life, when I felt weak, lost and unsure of who I was, I found the gym. When there was so much uncertainty in my life at that time, I knew that I was able to find certainty in the gym because if I stayed the course at least I would progress physical but there was something even greater happening that I did not expect. Have you felt like your hips are tight or locked up? Have you tried most cool stretches that you got from instagram and they may work for some sort term relief but don't seem to last long? A lot of the times most of us only look at the flexion, and extension of the hips, but there are some select few who look at the internal and external rotation of the hips. However even when most assess internal and external rotation of the hips it is done on their back, and the idea is t...hat if we are able to increase the end range of motion that it will help. I can ever only speak from my own experience, and I can say that it never really have long term relief. Until I began to put my hip into it's natural function of internal and external rotation of the hip. This is a modified and intentional version of the Airplabe exercise. We hold the position first, connect to the bow of the leg and internally rotate the loaded leg. This will feel like a DEEP capsul stretch, that will also lengthen under tension the entire lateral side of your leg. If you have tension and are constantly releasing your T.F.L or I.T band this is also great for it. Then we actively mobilize the hip by performing internal and external rotation, while minimizing movement to the rest of the body which really isolates the hip. It's like lubricating the hips, because motion is lotion for the joints. This movement is key for ever functional and athletic movement so I would encourage everyone to atleast try it. Booty burner You can do as many drop sets are you desire but heres the tip! Some of the mistakes I have witnessed ... Excessive squeeze of the glutes, that can lead to lower back pain Lack of Core engagement which can instability throughout the movement Not having a good understanding of where to place their feet, which can lead to inconsistent force generated from the ground up the kinetic chain. Tips At the base of your feet, go with a Pigeon stance. ensure that you feel the outside of your foot while mainting ground tension in your big toe. connect to the bow of the leg, and you can use a band if you desire but do not excessively abduct the leg. The band is just there to help create awareness about your hips internally rotating. your ankle, knee and hip should line up together which will for a right angle from the side view. Good and healthy breathung patterns. Ensure that you are breathing correctly and thus will help engage your transverse abdominal wall which is part of your core. Instead of squeezing the glutes to drive yourself into a hip extension. Press into the ground with your feet in a pigeon stance and systemically allow your body to perform a hip extension. This may take some time to learn, so go light at first or even go with just your body weight. slow things down, tune in and feel into the body. Train with intention and consciously connect to the movement. Our body is a unique system that when given the time to learn about will help you make long term gains!

Do you stand and walk with your toes pointed outwards? Do you feel like your knees always knock together? Have you ever checked your feet? This area is one of the most overlooked when it comes to the Health of your body. As your feet is the foundation and feedback your body receives of true gravitational pull.... When you are Duck footed, you may notice that the arches of your feet collapse which can lead up to challenges in the kinetic chain. Such as Bunions Knee pain or ACL tear or sprain due to a locked knee Hip impingement or feeling a locked hip Lower back pain or sciatica Could even lead up to challenges in your mid back, neck or shoulders. This is what has been happening with my Mom. She has been feeling a lot of tension in her adductors and Hip. She felt chronic tension, pain and like she could not move her hip naturally the way it could before. That is because over time when stood, walked, bent down she kept repeating the same pattern that lead her where she is now. So helping her recode her bodies position in space helped her create relief and freedom around her movement. There was no manual therapy that was applied just input healthy mechanics into the system and she received healthy output. Now it has not fully healed or been reprogrammed because It was only one rep but the feeling she received gave us good feedback that is the right direction. What needs to continue to happen is that her body If you have bought into the idea that I have bad knees, bad back, bad hips, or whatever bad body part I would encourage you to break free from that thought. Because there is no body too far gone that cannot be healed naturally from anything. I firmly with absolute faith believe that. Remember pain is not your sentence it is the indicator for change!
