Mold in the basement. This is another common spot you will find as with most homes basements can be cold and damp. On an unfinished basement it will be much easier to spot mold growing in corners and up walls near windows, drains or cracks, but if you have a finished basement mold can be harder to spot growing in the walls or under the floor. On a finished basement things to look out for are damp carpets or water stains on the drywall and if you experience any flooding be sur...e to vacuum, dry and inspect all areas of your basement as promptly as possible. The typical reasons why you can experience mold in the basement could be leaky windows, cracks in the foundations, sewer backups, leaking water lines or sweating of the concrete. A good idea is you can also have a dehumidifier that can remove any excess water that is in the air out of your basement, this helps prevent the much needed moisture mold needs to thrive, but if there is too much moisture you need to have someone come in and find the root cause of it so you can properly address the issue and have right person to come in and fix it.
