Our friend Gala was in for a visit today. Isn't she a good girl sitting pretty on the scale for us? FUN FACT: Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers are the smallest dogs in the retriever breed!

One medical issue we see often at All Creatures Animal Hospital is Struvite crystals, which is very painful and sometimes life threatening. How can you tell if your cat is suffering from urinary crystals? Here are some of the symptoms: -frequent trips to the litter box (often with little to no result) -straining to urinate -urinating outside the litter box -excessive licking of the urethral area... -painful urination, sometimes followed by yowling or crying -inappetence -lethargy Struvite crystals can be caused by many things. Often we look to diet and environment for clues. What are you feeding your cat? Has he been exposed to a lot of stress? Does he have access to clean water? Call us right away if you notice any of these symptoms in your cat!
