Are you beating yourself up for things you think you messed up on this weekend? Maybe your nutrition wasn't spot on or you had an extra glass or two of wine. Maybe you binged on Netfix instead of going for that walk you had planned. Relax, it's okay. Give yourself some grace. Stand up, brush yourself off and just get back on track. #dontquit #smallhabitsbigchange #allfit #personaltrainer #fitatanyage #fitnessjourney #thereisnoenddate

Skip to the lou my darling! Seriously though, skipping is a fabulous exercise with so many health benefits, both physical and mental. A skipping rope is inexpensive and doesn't take up a lot of space so it's an easy addition to your home gym. Burn some calories, increase your coordination, flexibility, concentration and bone density all while having fun singing the skipping songs you sang as a kid. (My favorite skipping song was "Who's Under the Bed?")... My skipping skills aren't what they used to be but I've set a goal to be able to skip for 10 minutes non stop so have included skipping into all of my workouts as part of my warm up. It's challenging but I'm already seeing an improvement in how long I can go without flubbing it up. I'm also thrilled that all the work I've done on strenghtening my core and pelvic floor function lets me skip without the worry of peeing my pants! Have some fun being a kid again and give it a try, let me know how it goes! I'd also love to know your favourtie skipping song.... #skippingrope #jumpforjoy #skipping #allfit #personaltrainer #fitatanyage #fitnessjourney #smallhabitsbigchange #thereisnoenddate

Just breathe. Ok, so you're going to start taking action, one small doable thing, to get back on track with your fitness but aren't sure where you should start? Start with the breath. Mindfully connecting with your breath is an excellent way to train your core which is the foundation or start of all our movements. A strong and stable core is essential to moving well.... Check in with yourself, where does your breath go? Into your chest or belly? Do you breath through your nose or mouth? Ideally, you want to breathe into your ribs, expand them to the sides and into your back and then the belly, the chest is the last to rise. Give it a try. Sit tall or lay on your back, one hand on the ribs, one on the belly. Take a slow breath in through your nose and direct the breath to the side ribs then belly. Your diaphragm will drop as it pulls the air into your lungs and your pelvic floor will relax. As you release the breath, feel your ribs come back together as the diaphragm comes back up and pushes the air out of your lungs. The pelvic floor and other core muscles will engage. Practice 5 breath cycles a few times during the day or when you remember. You'll be breathing more efficiently and have a stronger core before you know it! New Years resolutions...meh The start of a new year is a natural time for many of us to decide that "ok, that's it!!! This year I'm going to (fill in the blank)". We get excited, we're determined that we'll stick to it this time and we do pretty good, until we don't. Why does that always happen, what are we doing wrong? ... It's usually because we are trying to change too much all at once and/or our goals are too vague. Break your goal down into specific and doable portions. Doable being at least an 8 on a scale of 1-10. (one being no way, not going to happen, ten being a piece of cake) If your thought is that you're going to start eating "healthier" and "walk everyday" reframe that to making one small "healthier" choice with one meal a day. Something like switching from cream to milk for your coffee, or drinking a glass of water before a meal. Choose something that you know you can easily do, 8 or higher on that scale. If you don't think you can easily do it, break it down a little further. Do that one thing for a couple of weeks or more, get that new habit under your belt before you add to it. You will feel more successful and have more motivation to continue taking action towards reaching your goals. #allfit #personaltrainer #fitatanyage #babysteps #takeaction #goalsetting #fitnessjourney #thereisnoenddate #newyearsresoltions

Who or what inspires you? Finding your why is the key to what will motivate you to take action and stay consistent with your fitness journey. I figure I'm going to live a long time, all of my grandparents lived well in to their 90's. My dad, pictured here with me on the peak of Crown Mountain this past summer, is still going strong, hiking, swimming and walking daily...at 79 years young! ... This is my why. This is what keeps me active. I want to live a long life but only if I'm able to move well and be independent. There is no end date for fitness, it is a life long pursuit. Need help finding your why? I can help you with that! #allfit #personaltraining #fitatanyage #livelong #movetoimprove #thereisnoenddate #whatsyourwhy #takeaction #fitnessjourney #crownmountain #ilovehiking

For those of you who don't already know me, let me introduce myself. I'm Allison and I'm the creator of All Fit Personal Training. Being "fit" has always been important to me. The why's have changed over the years but the consistent theme has always been feeling strong and capable. ... A little spark of an idea of what I could do when I retired was turned into a reality thanks to Covid-19, and the support of friends and family of course. I now have the time and space to share my knowledge of and passion for fitness. My hope is that I can help you feel strong and capable too! What does that look like to you? Completing a Tough Mudder, hiking a local mountain, picking up and running after your grandchildren, jumping on a trampoline with your kids without peeing your pants? Let me help you with that! Out with the old, in with the new!!! It’s New Year’s Eve eve and a natural time for reflection and anticipation of a fresh start. I think everyone is quite happy to say goodbye to 2020, I know I am. It’s been a strange year for sure. I could focus on all the negative things that COVID-19 brought us this year but I’m choosing to look back at all the positive things that happened this year. ... Starting my own business is of course a highlight and has given me new found respect for anyone who has taken that leap of faith to go out on their own. 2020 also is the year that my granddaughter was born, a very special gift indeed! But I think the most important thing that 2020 has taught me is not to take for granted the freedom that we enjoy. You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone. Yes, right now we’re are being asked not to do a lot of the things we enjoy but we will again, and when that happens, I will remember to cherish and be grateful that I get to hug my family and friends. What are your thoughts about 2020 and what does a fresh start look like to you? #outwiththeoldinwiththenew #newyear #gratitude #freedom #lookingback #freshstart
