Advancements in technology allow us to learn more about hazardous materials and more importantly, prevent unnecessary exposure to them in the future. A famous example of this is the use of #asbestos as the fake snow in the 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz. During this same time, asbestos was also used in Christmas ornaments and cigarette filters, proving how its dangers were not yet well known. Now, visual effects are commonly used to make fake snow in movies keeping everyone sa...fe and allowing more control with the snowfall. You can read more about the use of asbestos in the #WizardofOz here: https://fal.cn/3iNv5 #AllAboutAbatement #DidYouKnow

How do you dispose of extra paint once a project is finished? Do you throw it out in your regular garbage bin? While this may be more convenient, it can have detrimental effects. Paint can take upwards of 15 years to decompose in a landfill, leaching hazardous toxins into the environment. So, please leave it to the experts. Call us to dispose of paint and other hazardous materials: https://fal.cn/3iqhy Let's keep our environment healthy, together.... #AllAboutAbatement #BetterTogether

"I never thought abatement would be my dream gig," Kyle Davidson says while laughing. But sometimes life takes you on a different path that eventually leads to where you're meant to be. Originally studying electrical and computer engineering, Kyle entered the world of abatement in 2006 as a labourer to earn extra money for school. Working for one of the largest abatement companies in Canada, he soon realized his calling towards an alternative industry to what he was studying.... Now almost 16 years later, he's never looked back. "I can truthfully say that abatement provided me with opportunities beyond what I could have imagined," Kyle explains. "I have travelled throughout Canada to large cities and remote northern communities completing complex and challenging projects." Some of those projects include railway fuel spills and building demolitions to waterway cleaning and disaster mitigation. As our owner and general manager, Kyle is dedicated not only to keeping our employees safe but your family and community. Want to learn more about All About? As we head into fall, remember to get your ducts and furnaces cleaned prior to the cold winter months. You wouldn't want to be dealing with a heating issue in minus 30-degree weather, so we like to remind you of this important home maintenance. If your furnace experts come across 'asbestos tape' during their inspection, all further exploration must be stopped until the asbestos is properly removed. Our phones have been ringing off the hook for this exact issue, so don't wait ...until mid-winter to get your ducts or furnaces inspected. And remember that we are here for you, 24/7, providing certainty amidst uncertainty. https://all-about.ca/services/ #AllAboutAbatement

Did you know it's Mesothelioma Awareness Month? Mesothelioma is a type of cancer in the lungs generally caused by asbestos exposure. As your abatement experts, part of our duty is to ensure that we educate our communities about the possible dangers and effects of asbestos. In 2017, 490 Canadians died from mesothelioma, 401 of which were men and 89 were women. According to the Canadian Cancer Society, mesothelioma develops anywhere from 15 to 40 years after someone is exposed ...to asbestos. If you think you've possibly been exposed to asbestos, talk to your doctor and ensure you're aware of the possible symptoms. Click here to read more about mesothelioma: https://fal.cn/3hSr3 From our entire team at #AllAboutAbatement, stay safe and stay informed. #MesotheliomaAwarenessMonth #Asbestos

Asbestos is a general term to identify six different naturally occurring fibrous minerals. Serpentine is the technical name for white asbestos commonly used in manufacturing. You can tell it's serpentine due to the long, curved fibres, whereas amphiobole describes fibres that are straight and stiff. Blue asbestos (crocidolite), brown asbestos (amosite), actinolite, anthophyllite, and tremolite are other fibrous minerals that fall under the amphiobole category. Learn more about the different types of asbestos by visiting the CCOHS (Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety) website: https://fal.cn/3hIhE #AllAboutAbatement #Asbestos #Asbestos101
