We unequivocally stand behind the inmates taking direct action when no one else will protect them. We hope sweeping changes can come before too many are injured. Also, pay attention to the extreme dehumanizing language being used online to talk about the inmate population. Some have always had these uneducated reactionary positions. Yet, we are in an era where praising the potential extermination of a group one feels they are superior to, in a public space with a name and face attached, is nearly an expectation. This is why we do what we do.
Happy New Year! Today also marks the anniversary of the 1804 Haitian Revolution, the 1959 Cuban Revolution, and the 1994 Zapatista Uprising! New Year's is the time of revolution!
The fact that food is even considered a commodity that can be "stolen" and that people are criminalized for trying to survive is really the only information anyone should need to feel compelled to organize.
