This week the flag at our Warkworth office flying at half-mast. Nancy Outwater, our Executive Vice President of Operations, passed away on Friday evening after a long and determined battle with cancer. We are so sad to have lost such a tremendous team member. Starting as our receptionist in Havelock office almost 30 years ago, Nancy worked her way through numerous positions, her Chartered Insurance Professional designation, Level 2 Brokers license and became a very impor...tant leader in our organization. She truly started at the bottom and through hard work and perseverance earned her way to a key member of our Leadership team. Our organization wouldn’t be where it is today without her drive, ideas, forward thinking and tenacity to see things and make them better. Never once would she let her decisions compromise her integrity nor let anyone push her around. She was small but she was mighty. Nancy remained positive through every situation and continually kept her eye on the end result. Positive, calm, consistent and keeping it simple were characteristic her spirit. Not everyone could easily read Nancy and she liked it that way; but somehow, you always knew where you stood with her. Her heart was bigger than anyone ever knew. We have missed our friend not being in the office every day but she still worked in the back ground providing support, advice and continued to coach from the sidelinesfor that we are forever grateful. We texted or called almost daily and Nancy participated in meetings or visited when she could to keep a pulse on our current events and kept encouraging us to push forward. Nancy has been a tremendous coach, mentor and friend to so many. Nancy has had a sign on her desk for years that said Work Hard, Play hard and that is exactly what she did. Together with her husband Rob she surrounded herself with fine wine, good friends, they traveled the world, enjoyed their cottage waterfront and great food. Their son Chad, his wife Tina and grandchildren Owen and Grace were the loves of her life.
