Allen's Grandmother, Maggie Soonias, was a central figure in his life and his work, frequently being a subject in many of his paintings. He honoured the women in his life and the matriarchal society in numerous ways, he recognized the vital role women held in his life and in the community.

Some things I’m working on today. Il label the photos later and there will be more photos, I am just waiting for more. A wall of heroes, people who went out in ...the world, did a deed; chess champion, nurse, actor, judge, doctor, NHL, Calgary stampede outriders, Indian relay, long distance horse racers, bullriders..and so in, just acknowledging people who studied or practiced late at night to become the best. We dont celebrate our achievers enough. Plus new photos of Leo and Adolphus soccer days in NB and a photo of Sam and William Favel, brothers to Basil, plus some drawings by Alix Van Der Donckt Alix Van Der Donckt-Ferrand ilustrating the battle of Broken Knife

We will be providing space for 12 participants to visit us inside the BMO Learning Centre at 2 PM and again at 3 PM. Today, we are exploring the work of Allen Sapp! Through his artwork, Allen Sapp has recorded stories and events he remembers about living on the Red Pheasant Reserve. His paintings show that he has remembered events, activities ,and places in great detail, and they inform us about a different time in rural Saskatchewan. All artworks are, to some degree, a record of a specific time within a community, but like Sapp’s work they can simultaneously be skilled and beautiful pieces of fine art. Create a watercolour card depicting one of your winter memories from your own community to share with a family member or friend.
