CHEEN will give an interactive live music performance that presents songs of her own and songs of Mounira El Mahdeya in Egyptian Arabic (lyrics' translation will be provided for the audience). The performance endeavours to reject the pan-Arabism notion while challenging the audiences' perspectives of gender constructs, language, and identities. CHEEN is an Egyptian guitarist, singer and songwriter. She was born in Alexandria, Egypt and started singing at the age of 6. When she was 18, she got interested in rock and metal music which motivated her to learn the guitar. At the age of 19, she started writing her own songs and formed the first female metal band in Egypt, Massive Scar Era. #judithfair #socialdistanceperformance

Coming to #JudithFair? You'll get to experience the music & poetry of the award-winning Alex Masse. Alex Masse is a writer and musician from BC. For Judith Fair she will combine these two precious mediums through a poetry reading with musical accompaniment on her Suzuki Qchord, a vintage guitar synth with a distinct, dreamy sound. Alex's poetry and prose each received a Scholastic Gold Key in 2018, and she's been performing in the local arts scene since 2012, this year featu...ring in multiple local festivals.
