We were thrilled to support Jan (Managing Shareholder) and Carolyn (Alliance Dental Bridgewater Office Coordinator) in the Walk YOUR Way for Autism. They completed a 25km walk for autism awareness. Way to go ladies!

Happy Dental Assistants Recognition Week! Dental Assistants are a key part of the dental practice year-round, but they get a special week dedicated to them each year for all the great work they do! We can’t thank Becky and Jessica enough for all your hard work, your excellent patient care, and superior skills. You are all amazing and we are so lucky to have you on our Alliance Dental team!

To Our Valued Patients, As of midnight, March 31st we will no longer be permitted to see any emergency patients within our offices. The NS Government and the NS Dental Board have determined that the community spread of COVID-19 has increased the risk to both patients and dental practitioners. We want you to know that we are still here for you and are still available to take your calls Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. After the initial triage one of our dent...ists will call you to offer advice, as well as over the phone emergency care. We will also arrange referrals to the established Emergency Dental Treatment Centres as required. Outside of regular office hours please listen carefully to our voicemail, as our on call dentist is still available to speak with you regarding a dental emergency. Important Update on Emergency Care: As of March 22, dentists can no longer practice dentistry in their offices unless they deem it necessary to perform an emergency dental procedure in the best interest of the patients health. Good Afternoon! Your family here at Alliance Dental would like to wish you a very happy hump day, and what better day than a Wednesday to talk about having good oral health for life! Our friends over at the Canadian Dental Association have put out these five tips for your oral health called Oral Health: Good For Life. Keep your mouth clean: You can use a soft-bristle toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste and floss daily. Make sure you have a well-balanced diet that limits food...s and beverages containing sugar or carbohydrates. Your ideal snacks should be non-acidic fruits and things like cheese, nuts and vegetables. After you eat wait at least 20-30 minutes before brushing your teeth. And finally, you can look for oral care products that carry the #CanadianDentalAssociation (CDA) Seal. You need to check your mouth regularly. Look for signs of gum disease like: Red, shiny, puffy, sore or sensitive gums Bleeding when you brush or floss Bad breath that wont go away Also be sure to look for signs of oral cancer like: Bleeding or open sores that dont heal White or red patches Numbness or tingling Small lumps and thickening on the sides or bottom of your tongue, the floor or roof of your mouth, the inside of your cheeks, or on your gums Make sure youre eating well. Good nutrition helps build strong teeth and gums as well as a strong overall body and mind. Enjoy on mouth-healthy snacks like cheeses, nuts, vegetables, and non-acidic fruits. Make sure to visit your dentist regularly! According to the CDA, 48% of Canadians who havent seen a dentist in the past year have gum disease. Regular dental exams and professional cleanings are the best way to prevent and detect problems before they get worse. Dont smoke or chew tobacco. Smoking and chewing tobacco can cause oral cancer, heart disease, gum disease, and a variety of other cancers. If you follow these five tips you can make sure your mouth is a happy healthy place. Its #StaffLoveSunday and this week were shouting out Dr Megan Behan from our Dartmouth Office. Being a Dartmouth local she graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Biology. Dr Megan then pursued dentistry and graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Dalhousie University in 2016. Shes an active volunteer in her church as a member of the Communications Committee, and her hobbies include travelling and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, and is very excited to be practising in her hometown of Dartmouth!
