As #BlackMentalHealthWeek draws to a close this weekend, it's a good time to reflect on the work ahead and the policy changes needed to support #Blackhealth, to address anti-Black racism, and to create lasting, sustainable, systemic change for the health and wellbeing of Black people and communities. Here's the Alliance and the sector's Black Health Committee's joint statement. Please read, reflect, and share -- and think about ways to act and encourage others to as well: https://www.allianceon.org/Black-Mental-Health-Week-Stateme #healthequity #communityhealth #ONhealth #ONpoli

Earlier this year, the Alliance and other partners joined together with Indigenous and other health leaders in Ontario to welcome the Indigenous Primary Health Care Council (NEW Facebook page to follow!) The Council (or IPHCC for short), supports the advancement and evolution of Indigenous primary health care service provision and planning throughout Ontario, and works closely with 28 Indigenous-led primary health care organizations to to address the physical, spiritual, emot...ional, and mental needs of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis (FNIM) people and communities they serve. We invite you to learn more about what Indigenous Health in Indigenous Hands means, the work of Aboriginal Health Access Centres (AHACs), Indigenous Interprofessional Primary Care Teams (IPCTs), Indigenous Community Health Centres and Indigenous Family Health Teams, and the continued efforts of the leaders of IPHCC to bring about the systemic change needed to address ongoing anti-Indigenous racism and colonial structures. Here's the Alliance's statement on Ontario's new #COVID19 response framework. #PowerInCommunity means meeting people where they're at, such as the efforts of outreach workers (like Four Corners Health Centre's Natalia from video below) during #COVID19 to make sure people can access harm reduction supplies, food, and other supports. Thank you, Natalia, and all outreach workers who've gone above and beyond to ensure people are connected even with new barriers due to the pandemic. #CHWW2020
