This month's #FirstFriday Feature Artist is Elaine Henderson. Elaine is a watercolour artist who primarily paints landscapes. She paints both real and imagined spaces that are simultaneously familiar and captivating. By painting landscapes she hopes to connect the viewer to the wilderness. Her work is masterfully painted and captures the beauty of the natural environment. You can purchase her paintings on our website [www.aacworks.ca] or in-person in our retail space. Elaine is one of many local artists represented in AAC Works - to check out more of her work go to her artist page Art By Elaine Henderson Happy First Friday! #firstfriday #featureartist #downtownlethbridge #shoplocal #supportlocal #yqlarts #aacworks #albertaartist #watercolour #painting #landscapeart
Do I need to start collecting GST on my pottery? I donated a piece of my art, can I get a tax receipt for that? Is my clarinet a liability or an asset? What’s the difference between a fee and an honourarium? My studio is in my apartment, can I claim that? Back by popular demand and just in time for tax season, Andrea Harper, CPA, with Avail Professional Accountants will be joining us on March 4th for our next ART/WORK webinar! Andrea will give artists advice on preparing and ...submitting tax returns. Bring your questions, not your receipts! Registration is FREE - follow the link below to go to our Event Page for registration details https://www.facebook.com/events/239267914510356 #taxtipsforartists #free #artwork #professionaldevelopment #PDsession #yql #yqlarts #taxtime #zoom #andreaharper #artists #albertaartists

The Allied Arts Council helped transition the Arts Alive and Well in the Schools in Our Homes virtual gallery into the public realm. Art’s Alive and Well in the Schools is a yearly art exhibit put on by all the Lethbridge city schools within the Holy Spirit Catholic School Board, Lethbridge School Division and École La Vérendrye. It is displayed in co-operation with the Southern Alberta Art Gallery and usually takes place annually in the spring. 2020 looked qu...ite different, in so many ways! In consideration of the current COVID reality, Art’s Alive and Well in the Schools became the virtual exhibition Art’s Alive and Well in Our Homes! The Art’s Alive and Well in Our Homes! exhibition consists of artwork created at home and submitted by children from all of the schools. The construction fencing panels at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden visible from the Henderson Lake path incorporate a sampling of these artworks. See the full exhibition here: https://www.lethsd.ab.ca//instructional-services/arts-aliv The Construction fencing project was implemented by the City of Lethbridge Public Art Program, Lethbridge School Division and many young community artists. #YQL #YQLArts
