AIH HOME TRAINING SERIES presented by: The Athletes Way Cable rotations are amazing for hockey players because they recruit the obliques, abs, hips and arms. All very important muscles that are required for any particular shooting/passion motion in the sport of hockey. Our coaches at @theathletesway.ca suggest players to incorporate these into their workout regime to prime and replicate this common plane of movement. ... Try 3 sets, and aim for volume reps (12-15 reps per side). All In Hockey and The Athletes Way are getting geared up for this summers hockey camp. Check out the last posts for dates with more info coming. With normalcy on the horizon, make sure you are ready for that big season you’ve been pushing and working hard for.

Everyone has seen the Caufield goal from last night. But watch the Dman #8 Sanderson. His confidence in his skating ability and wanting to actually make a play is what creates the goal. What we can’t see from this angle is: 1. USA has 3 players at the blue line... 2. USA has 2 players in front of the net being checked 3.USA is outnumbered down low #8 could have just put the puck down low like 95% of players would have done. Odds are Finland gets possession and comes back up ice with the puck. #8 Sanderson instead takes the puck and protects while getting up to the blue line. Once he does that, his teammates can see he is going to make a play and can now get open and become an option USA can even up the numbers down low and #13 Caufield can receive the puck down low. Defense!!! Don’t be scared to make a play. Every player is just putting the puck into the corner and there’s nothing wrong with the safe play. But what will separate you from the pack is making these kinda plays. Skating ability, footwork, deception, puck protection are all skills in this sequence that can be worked on. Keep getting better everyone and try watching these games in a different way. When there’s a goal, go back and watch 10-20 seconds before to see How It Happened!!!

Check out the chart of the top goal scorers from 17-18 season. This chart gives you the percentages of which shot they used. Wrist shot, snap shot and the backhand look to be at the top. How many pucks are you shooting a day and what shot are you working on the most?

Couple things to take from this video of Crosby 1. Intensity and finishes a drill even when he messes up. Get the puck back and keep going 2. Receiving the puck on the backhand from a rocket of a pass from 15 feet out. 3. He makes a mistake after receiving the pass, next time up, a correction is made and he makes sure he gets it done and at full speed. 4. There is not a video on the internet of him in practice where he is not fully engaged, intense and competing. ... It’s not so much about hard work or working hard. It’s about the compete level Did you do enough today to out compete your opponent.
