Today I learned that people get their news and information from sources that are easy to navigate. The quality of information is secondary to the user experience. To that end, here is the official information straight from the Government of Ontario newsroom. Their website is the most trustworthy, but also difficult to navigate. https://news.ontario.ca//ontario-declares-second-provincia

I hesitated posting the news that I was vaccinated yesterday. Over the past few weeks I was seeing posts from friends in the U.S., and other parts of Ontario who received the vaccine ahead of me and I was upset. My understanding was that long term care residents and staff were to be vaccinated first, and when that didn’t happen, I felt like the Ontario Government left me in the dark about what the new roll out plan was. I live and work in Toronto- a hot spot for covid infecti...ons. Even more than that, my role on a mobile team takes me all over my hospital’s 26 inpatient units, and some of our outpatient programs. Some others with non-patient facing roles in my hospital were vaccinated last week. I hesitated to post that I got the vaccine yesterday becasue I know there are healthcare providers out there who still don’t know when they are going to get vaccinated. I didn’t want to add fuel to my colleague’s fires of frustration and fear. BUT, with all of that said, I did get the first dose of the vaccine yesterday. I went to St. Michael’s Hospital and their set up ran like a well oiled machine. I had zero side effects or reaction yesterday. This morning my arm is the tiniest bit sore, and my nose is a bit stuffed up...which tells me it’s working!! I know that not everyone is a good candidate for the vaccine, but if you are young and healthy like me ( ) PLEASE consider taking the vaccine as soon as you are able. Just like wearing my mask, I do it for others, not for myself. Come on Doug Ford! We can do so much better. To have doses of vaccines in the freezer and no infrastructure to administer them TODAY is making this pandemic last longer than it has to. Every nurse, PSW, and even veterinarian I know is willing to help. Use us. Mobilize us. We’re waiting! See more

Update on vaccines: We’ve secured our second agreement for early doses of COVID-19 vaccines, this time with Moderna. We’ll receive up to 168,000 doses of their ...vaccine before the end of the month, pending approval from Health Canada. These doses are part of the 40 million we’ve secured from them, and deliveries could begin within 48 hours of regulatory approval. Because this vaccine is easier to ship over long distances, it will be directed to the North, as well as to remote and Indigenous communities. We’ve already shipped medical-grade freezers to the North to prepare for the arrival of vaccines. As soon as we get the green light, we’ll be ready to go. As for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which is already being administered in Canada, we’ve confirmed that about 200,000 of our total early order for 2020 will be delivered next week. Provinces will have 70 sites ready to administer these doses then, up from 14 sites this week.
