All Occasion Limo Service 08.09.2021

Repatriation Day Three continued... Today, we flew to Loreto, Mexico to bring Canadians home. As soon as we landed and opened the door, you could feel a burst o...f warmth and humidity hit your face, the breeze was strong, and the sun was bright. It was so perfect, that for a minute, you almost forgot that the world is beyond unsettled and feels quite scary at times. It served as a reminder (and an understanding) as to how many Canadians abroad who are travelling home have varying degrees of COVID information. After all, the intention of vacation is to unplug and disconnect, and you cannot fault someone for doing just that. I snapped a quick photo of myself in the sunshine to send to my children so they could see where I was, and then we started to board. Throughout the flight, every single passenger I spoke with thanked me for showing up to work, and asked how I was doing. They spoke with such gratitude, and I felt so privileged to have such wonderful passengers on my flight. I also had the honour of bringing my grandma and grandpa’s lifelong friends and neighbours home, which was the icing on the cake. On landing, at about 500 feet from the ground, the entire aircraft began to sing O Canada. The passengers singing cinematically in unison as they landed safely on Canadian soil during a global pandemic, was one of the most powerful and moving moments of my life. Many guests were crying as they deplaned, overwhelmingly thankful for our service today. The patriotism and gratefulness everyone expressed to us as they prepared to head home into self-isolation during a cold winter, was in abundance. Against many odds, today was a good day. #westjetstrong

Air Canada squeaked into the punctuality league, placing 20th among "mega airlines" behind the big U.S. carriers, as well as British Airways, Lufthansa and Air China.

During this difficult and uncertain time, our dedicated drivers are continuing to safely take the WestJet crews to and from their hotels in Regina. In the near future our workload will be severely reduced as WestJet reduces their flights. If you see one of our vans, or a driver please thank them for working during this time. #westjetstrong

I have been a Flight Attendant for 17 years, and I am only 36. My entire adult life, I have been in aviation. The amount of people I have met and spoken with on... the aircraft is in the high hundreds of thousands, most likely even more. People travel for so many reasons - for pleasure, for business, for Make-A-Wish trips, for funerals, honeymoons, for weddings, for yoga retreats, to meet an online partner for the first time, to escape violence, to spread human remains at a meaningful location, mental clarity, a last trip before a suicide (yes, I have encountered that, and I will never forget it). We fly people away to tropical beaches for a hard-earned family vacation, and we fly parents across the world on an emergency trip after finding out that their child was involved in a tragic accident. Travel means so much more to an individual than what we can possibly see or even begin to comprehend. So, imagine the value of travel to someone who has chosen aviation as a career. Not only does it enrich our lives beyond measure and nourish our soul by giving us the ability to contribute to someone else’s life, it provides security. Our careers put food on our family’s table. Our careers put a roof over our heads. Our careers provide our children with a meaningful life full of extracurricular activities. Our careers give us the rare opportunities to show our friends and family places they could only dream of seeing. The message of social distancing is loud, clear, smart, and safe. However, essential travel is just that - essential. If you want a loved one (or even just a fellow Canadian) to make it home quickly and safely, someone has to bring them home, and that someone is me. Aviation is a turbulent (no pun intended) industry that is quickly shifting and falling apart with every minute that passes. Yet, we put on a smiling face and provide our travellers with confidently-delivered information that we have only just received ourselves. We are answering questions we are learning the answers to, and we are being asked questions that we don’t know the answers to. We do this happily, willingly, and still smiling, while simultaneously faced with reports thrust all over the media combined with constant emails about a heavily reduced workforce and border closures. Be mindful when you assume that our careers endanger our children, because the reality is, airlines have been transporting passengers with communicable and transmittable diseases daily for decades, and there are universal precaution procedures and several barrier methods used to safely do so. We have always practiced effective hand washing, sanitization, and distancing measures - you just haven’t seen it. Be mindful of how you sound when you tell an airline employee that you are so relieved to have cancelled your vacation, because the reality is, those cancellations (albeit imperative) change our lives. Be mindful of how it sounds when you tell someone to just stay home, because the reality is, some of us have to leave to bring the rest of us back. Just be mindful. #westjetstrong
