MIRACLE UPDATE: An APM adopter has generously sponsored Santi's surgery and also donated to Billy's hip surgery. Thank you to the beautiful Melanie Leach and Scooby for saving two lives! update: TOTAL TO DATE IS $460.00 THANK YOU TO OUR DONORS. WE HAVE JUST FOUND OUT THAT SANTI NEEDS HIS SURGERY IMMEDIATELY! TOTAL OF $697.84 ..WE ARE ALMOST THERE AT LEAST FOR THIS POOR BOY! THANK YOU ALL FOR SHARING AND THE DONATIONS. XO I will move Billy to our sponsor page which I w...ill link shortly! SANTI has fractured hip and needs a metal plate and needs the head of femur removed. There is also pain in his front leg so on Wednesday, during anesthesia they will do another X-rays of front leg to be sure there is nothing else Please see his x rays in comments! Happy Saturday everyone! We have two dogs that desperately need our help. We know that during this unprecedented time everyone is struggling but due to the amount of dogs that we needed to vet lately, we are once again asking our followers to assist us with these two beautiful babies who deserve to live pain free and healthy. Meet Billy who is 1 year old. He arrived a week ago. A young lady on a bicycle saw him hiding in a bush near Centro Maya in Mexico. He was sick, shaking, his eyes were strange and you could see he was in pain. The team thought he may have distemper, he was tested and unfortunately he was positive and was kept in maximum isolation because it is so deadly and contagious. He survived, and was given his first vaccine and deworming 2 days ago but something was still not right: he walked like he was drunk and looked at times like he was suffocating. So he went to the vet for x rays and they showed the beginning of a vascular necrosis of the head of his right fémur. After checking his mouth and throat Dr. Lalo’s diagnose was an elongated soft palate (see below) which is why he is unable to breathe. A dog with an elongated soft palate (the soft part of the roof of the mouth) has a soft palate that is too long for the length of the mouth; the excess length partially blocks the entrance to the trachea (windpipe at the back of the throat) He needs 2 surgeries: 1 for removing head of femur (478.23 CAD) and another to correct the palate (350.70 CAD) Meet Santi SANTI arrived to the shelter skinny, exhausted, full of scars, his paw cushion open, the other leg limping When he entered the shelter he laid down and just fell on his side just like he thought I am finally safe! He ate, drank half gallon of water and collapsed. He needs X-rays, tests and a lot of love We do not have an estimate for Santi yet but will post it asap. We so want these dogs here safe and healthy in Canada. If you are able to donate to these very worthy dogs, please send any donation (nothing is too small) via e-transfer to [email protected] Any amount of $20.00 and over is tax deductible. Just leave your address in the note portion of the e-transfer or pm us so we can send it to you.

Susie (now Coco) looks like she had a rough night. She is loved by her mama and kind of enjoying her new bed! We would love to see your pets having a snooze in funny ways!

Welcome to our new Canadians. Thank you to our Escort and to our transporters who made this happen and, who drove miles through a snowstorm to get these dogs where they needed to be, because of you they now have homes. Welcome Nicky (Now Mojo), Cora and Susie. All were direct adoptions.

ALVIN IS HOME AND SAFE! We are so very thankful that our beautiful Alvin is safe and warm today. He had quite an excursion in the last 8 days, traveling approximately 100 km, with most of that being in running mode, so he is stiff, sore, very thin and has some minor abrasions on his body. It is time to pamper and love him. We want to remind everyone that all dogs need to be double leashed. One collar attached to a leash and one harness attached to leash. This way your dog... can never break free of both if he or she frightens or just happens to wiggle their way out of one. This is extremely necessary for the first month minimum of getting one of our dogs. We would like to thank all of our followers who shared Alvin's story, the lost and found groups who posted him on their sites, the people who called in with sightings all across Gatineau, our All Paws Matter volunteers who went and posted whenever they could, some driving for hours, and especially to the foster who was continually out there looking when no one else was. Also there is one other person who we would like to thank... they know who they are, who supported, assisted, stayed positive, and never ever gave up on Alvin. We can never repay you! Alvin now has the challenge of recovering and healing both mentally and physically. It could take days, weeks or months but we are all here for him and we will keep you updated on his progress. Please, please, please keep your dog secured and hug them a little closer today. We love you Alvin and will never let you go again!!!!

Happy Friday everyone. We will be beginning our $5.00 Fridays once again. We have had a number of dogs who required surgery and heartworm diagnoses. One in particular was Paco. This little boy was ready to come to All Paws Matter after a hard life where Paco had a terribly dislocated hip and needed the head of his femur removed at a cost of $550.00. After his surgery, which were happy to do, he was tested positive for heartworm and now requires painful injections for t...he next few months at a cost of another approximately $500.00 this does not include neutering, spaying and vaccinations. We can't always do this alone and do need help. APM wants to be transparent when we adopt out our dogs. We do our utmost to get you a healthy, happy dog so when individuals ask why our adoption fee is "so high" this is the reason. We barely break even on our dogs, and most of the time lose. APM is not here to make money, it is hear to help dogs period!!!! If you can spare anything, please send your donation to [email protected] and put in the note $5.00 friday! Thank you to all our followers for your support.
