In a study by Health Canada, the Yukon was estimated to have radon in 20% of its buildings. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that comes from the soil. You cannot taste or smell Radon and when exposed to high levels of the gas, it can result in an increased risk of developing lung cancer, 1 in 20 chance. When combined with smoking your chances of getting lung cancer increases to 1 in 3. We at All Pro Yukon Restoration Ltd. can either provide long term testing u...nits or come to your home and conduct a test. Health Canada recommends a long term test (3 to 12 months) prior to deciding whether or not to mitigate. These tests are very low cost at approximately $40 per testing unit. We can also do a short term testing (2 to 7 days) or continuous monitoring testing; useful in many situations such as real estate transactions and post mitigation testing. Once we have determined if Radon is a problem in your house we can talk mitigation. The cost for Radon mitigation depends on the size and design of a home and the work that is needed. If you have any question, please give us a call (867) 335-1087. We will put your mind to rest when it come to Radon and your mitigation needs. Next week we will be doing a giveaway!
