Cochrane Prayer Night Meditation & Live Prayer via Zoom Wednesday, Nov 18 Link: https://www.allsaintscochrane.org//2020-11-16-cochrane-pra Fr. Matthew discusses St. Hilda of Whitby and the Synod of Whitby on her feast day, and how they relate to the question of how we are building the body of Christ at All Saints today, and in particular how the Synod of Whitby might remind us of the importance of our small groups and the vital role they play in bringing us together.... To facilitate those prayers, a live Zoom-based service of prayer will follow on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 PM. The service will provide a quiet and contemplative opportunity to offer those prayers for the community and the world. This 15-minute service of prayer will be projected on the screen and will be family-friendly. Please contact [email protected] for the Zoom link and password.

Matthew takes an excursis from the discussion of the corporal and spiritual acts of mercy to discuss the role of good works in salvation, and how our actions may help to build our faith, just as our faith causes us to act. He makes reference to St. Matthew 7:21, St. Matthew 25:31-46 and St James 3:14-17. He also references Mere Christ...ianity by CS Lewis, Book 3, Chapter 9 "Charity" as well as the latin phrase lex orandi, lex credendi, lex vivendi. Sunday Service - November 15th: Third Sunday in Allsaintstide Judges 4:1-7; Ps 123; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11; Matthew 25:14-30 Link: https://www.allsaintscochrane.org/podcasts/media Weekly Prayer Intention: For our Small Group Ministries and those who lead them." Please also pray for all members of the parish family, and for the mission of the parish.... We will once again join together as a community in our homes to share our on-line Sunday Eucharist with the theme "Founders and Benefactors of the Church" including a special Sunday School lesson with stories & crafts. This week we remember the founders and benefactors of this parish, and all those who have contributed to its physical and spiritual growth over the 128 years since its founding. In our readings, St. Paul reminds us of our task to continue building the Body of Christ in this place, just as generations before us have, when he tells the Thessalonians to, encourage one another and build up each other, as indeed you are doing.

Cochrane Prayer Night Meditation: TONIGHT AT 7:00 PM - Wednesday, Oct 7 Link: https://www.allsaintscochrane.org//2020-10-01-cochrane-pra Fr. Matthew concludes the recent discussion on death by considering how we as a community of believers might respond to death within our community, and in particular he highlights burying the dead, one of the traditional seven corporal acts of mercy to reduce physical suffering in the world as a means of doing so. He cites St. Matthew 25:3...1-46, Isaiah 57:7, and Tobit 1:3, 16-19. He suggests a number of ways in which we as a parish might pray for those who mourn as we approach Allsaintstide, the season of the year where we pay particular attention to the faithful departed. Cochrane Prayer Night Meditation: TONIGHT Wednesday, Sept 23 Link: https://www.allsaintscochrane.org//2020-09-16-cochrane-pra Fr. Matthew continues the discussion on the Christian understanding of death and holy dying. He discusses a possible reason for why society has made it so difficult to discuss death, and contrasts it with Christian understanding of death as a step towards our hope in resurrection. He discusses how anointing with oil, confession, and the reception of the Eucharist assist in preparing for a holy death, and how this is something that is spiritually fruitful for all Christians to contemplate.
