ASKC looking serene in last week’s fresh snow.
Holy Eucharist (Book of Alternative Services), Third Sunday of Advent, 13 December, 2020
Delighted to drop off this car load at the King Township Food Bank this morning and thanks to all who contributed. ASKC is a church that not only says what it believes, but also does what it believes.
"From Dave Gordon: Hello Indigenous Allies: I had an opportunity to see "Grizzlies" at Dundas Square 18 months ago. ... Pikangikum Youth Sport Update: Through Rotary HIP we have been invited to play a small role in the Hockey Equipment Drive 2018 for Pikangikum. The Good News with current COVID lockdown: Pikangikum youth are pleasure skating (no hockey) at the arena and learning traditional skills on the land with Elders. Youth Winter Outerwear Drive 2018-19 has equipped the students to be warm and comfortable in their bush outings with Elders. I communicate with Missionary Colleen. This week I inquired about senior youth Fat Tire bike riding from last February ICE ROAD challenge hosted by New Hope Community Bikes, Hamilton . Ice Road Challenge generated $70k for investing in Fat Tire bikes in Pikangikum. Registration is in Innis College e-mail to obtain Zoom link for Friday evening "Grizzlies"." https://mailchi.mp/utoronto/the-grizzlies?e=e0cd1851ac
Morning Prayer dark and early from Michael's study, with the readings for today, the Feast of the Apostles Saint Simon and Saint Jude, and a strong cup of tea!
Not ALL church meals at All Saints are cancelled.
The parish vestry meeting was held yesterday at 1:30pm via Zoom and phone call-in. Highlights: approval of the budget for this coming year, reappointment of Susan Murray as Rector's Warden, and re-election of Patrick Gossage as Peoples' Warden. Thanks to all who submitted reports and who helped ASKC get through a difficult time of transition and uncertainty. A particular thanks to Marilyn Cartmill, who indefatigably manages our finances and books. Here is a link to the recording of the vestry meeting: https://youtu.be/6v7eQTSGreE
Very happy to post the video of our service of Holy Eucharist for yesterday, Sunday 25 October, with Bishop Peter Fenty making his last visit to All Saints before retirement. His sermon was a barnburner! Thanks to Denise Whalley for running our new video camera. We still have a lot to learn about video, but it is a huge step forward. You can also see the new screens in our church in operation - the entire liturgy was presented electronically and thanks to our parish administrator, Kristen, for making that happen so well! https://youtu.be/IFwuXHICy4o
We look forward to welcoming Bishop Peter to All Saints at 10:30 this morning as our bishop, friend and preacher. Here's Fr Michael's short sermon preached here at 08:00. https://madpadre.blogspot.com//pandemic-and-promised-land-
Thanks to Patrick Gossage, we got some coverage of our Prayer Garden initiative in this month's edition of The Anglican.
Thanks to Harry and Judith who keep our sign fresh and relevant. I’ve heard comments from locals that the messages are noticed and appreciated.
Good evening! Sorry for the delay but here is the link to today's service and homily for those who weren't able to attend church today. https://youtu.be/8D7U4JtclOU
