Allswell Productions 01.01.2021

Two weeks ago, when Allswell announced we were continuing on with auditions for Peter and the Starcatcher, we were hoping to be able to record performances of this musical and stream the performance online for our audience to decide to attend the live performance or enjoy distanced from the comforts of their homes. Unfortunately, we ran into issues obtaining the licenses to do so. Due to the difficulties with licensing mixed with our nerves regarding COVID-19, the team behind Allswell Productions has decided to postpone our production of Peter and the Starcatcher to a later date. We are making this decision with the safety of our cast, crew and audiences at the forefront and we hope to be back when it is safe to do so. We look forward to the day we can make theatre magic again for you.

Black Lives Matter. Allswell has stayed mostly silent on this issue, not because we do not care, but because we are aware of our history. We are aware that our executive team is all white, we are aware that our past casts and creative teams have been almost exclusively white. While unintentional, these are not statistics we take pride in. As a company, we have always strived to make our shows inclusive and safe spaces to participate in, but this has not been reflected in who... has been seen on stage. Allswell Productions needs to do better. The theatre community in London needs to do better. Theatre is about telling stories and reflecting them back at audiences, and the stories we have been telling have neglected a vital part of the human experience. We are committed to changing that. We are committed to listening, learning, unlearning and making more space at the table. BIPOC creators in London, you are welcome in our meetings, in our audition rooms, in our rehearsal halls and in our audiences. Your work is essential to our art, and we will work harder to make sure you feel more welcome.
