Training for power ... in her golf swing?? Similar to other rotational sports such as badminton , tennis , baseball , and football , the transfer of power production from the upper body to the arm/wrist and then to the club is imperative. An important component of power production is velocity/speed. These are a couple techniques to develop speed in our athletes. Keep working hard Mo!! #allteedup2020 #theeaglesnest2020
Now let’s talk about the importance of separation between the upper body and the lower body. This Disassociation is an important skill throughout the swing. An inability to adequately separate the 2 body regions can lead to many unwanted swing characteristics, such as the Sway, Reverse Spine Angle, Chicken Winging and Over the Top to mention a few. Let’s look at a few exercises now to address this issue and get all teed up for spring!!
Hello again!! A couple areas of the body that often are overlooked or not acknowledged as essential to an efficient swing are the wrists and ankles. When dissecting the swing, proper wrist mobility is important through various stages, setting the club on the backswing, at impact, and even the follow thru! In terms of the ankle/foot complex, this is our only connection between our bodies and the ground, so lack of mobility and /or stability can affect power generation or alter movement up the kinematic chain leading to other unwanted swing characteristics. So let’s not neglect these areas and let’s continue to get all teed up! #allteedup2020 #theeaglesnest2020
As we continue along the ankle bone is connected to the knee bone, the knee bone connected to the hip bone saga, we will continue down the kinematic chain and discuss the importance of hip/pelvic mobility in the golf swing. Lack of mobility in these areas can lead to several inefficient swing characteristics, such as early extension, sway, slide, or loss of posture during the swing to mention a few. It’s also important to note that this lack of mobility can be a precursor to Low Back Pain as the Lumbar Spine will have to compensate for this lack of mobility and predispose one to potential injury. So, let’s see what we can do to reduce these outcomes and get all teed up with these exercises.
