This is worth posting again, because it's a treasure trove of self care inspiration. HOW TO USE THIS GUIDE: choose two habits or recurring options from the list (like a weekly board game night, or a daily shower ritual)... choose between three and five activities in total to do over the next month, from options like crafts, virtual get-togethers, spa days or a road trip, and add them to your schedule check in with yourself to make sure nothing feels stressful or like "too much" in any way - if it does, do less or find a way to simplify the plan check in with yourself to see if you feel excited and happy about what you've chosen. Don't choose anything based on a should, but on that "Ooh yay!" feeling you get when you treat yourself share your plan with someone close to you -- someone who might join you in some of the plans, if possible. report back under this post to let us know what you have planned or what you ended up doing, and how it went! Do you make a conditioner bar to go with your shampoo bars? No. And here’s why. There are two different types of shampoo bars: soap, or detergent.... Liquid shampoo is a detergent, which strips the natural oils from your hair, necessitating conditioner. When switching from liquid shampoo to a detergent shampoo bar (which are created using a press), you’ll still need conditioner to replenish the oils the detergents are stripping. This is why companies that sell pressed shampoo bars also sell pressed conditioner bars. Meanwhile, our shampoo bars are actually cold processed (all natural) soaps. Our shampoo bars differ from our regular bar soaps in that they contain oils that are specifically beneficial for hair. Because soap washes dirt and other foreign debris from the hair without stripping the natural oils, conditioner is not needed. There’s an adjustment period for most people as they transition from detergent shampoo to soap shampoo, but after 2-4 weeks, things should be working well. Some people will use no conditioner at all with the type of shampoo bars we make, while others might choose to rinse their hair with diluted apple cider vinegar, and/or use a hair oil after they wash their hair. So no - we don’t make a conditioner bar. And you won’t need one! (Also, our shampoo bars don’t contain SLS, which is a nice bonus. ) #shampoobar #zerowaste #shoplocalyyc

Tub Truffles These tub truffles are a little piece of heaven in my world. The smell is soft and fresh and they make not only the bath water, but my skin soft and silky. This is particularly awesome in the dry climate of Calgary and area. I try never to be without these!!! Our soap making has really ramped up in advance of the holiday season. It takes at least six weeks for each batch to cure and be ready to use. We have several private label soaps on the go for companies like Chinook Honey Company and CleanO2 CCT Inc. (and a couple super secret, high profile local companies) as well as swirled holiday soaps in Candy Cane and Into The Woods, and of course all our regular soaps and shampoo bars. Thankfully we have the best team ever getting it done! #soapmaking #smallbatch #madeinyyc

We Are Leaping Bunny Certified!! The Leaping Bunny is the most trusted cruelty free certification for non-animal tested products. You’ll see this logo appearing on our products in the future as we switch over our labels, but know that we are already officially certified! Achieving this certification means we have the procedures and policies in place to enable and verify our cruelty-free claims, producing products not tested on animals. In order for us to be certified, our... ingredient suppliers make the same pledge and the result is a product guaranteed to be 100 percent free of new animal testing (though to be clear, we have NEVER tested on animals). We must also remain open to independent audits, and our commitments will be renewed on an annual basis. According to Leaping Bunny: Products may claim to be "cruelty-free" or "not tested on animals, but their claims may only refer to the finished product. As you may be aware, the majority of animal testing occurs at the ingredient level. Similarly, some companies may state, We do not test on animals, when in fact they merely contract other companies to do the testing. These kinds of statements are often confusing and misleading for consumers. Photo featuring one of the many re-wilded domestic bunnies that live outside our building! #crueltyfree #vegan

Jack Beard Balm This light hold balm moisturizes my beard without the weight or crustiness left behind by some other beard balms, all while protecting me and my beard from the dry prairie air. What scent the balm has is pleasant and mild, perfect for going out without smelling like the a fragrance store. Neil, Calgary AB... #beardbalm #allnatural #handcrafted #madeincanada

Field Trip Time! Did you know that we make private label or white label products for a number of aligned small businesses across Canada? This means that we manufacture all natural, small batch soaps, bum balms, lotions, lip balms and more, then package and label them to a business’ specifications to match their brand. In this way, we have the good fortune of working with some really incredible folks whose vision matches ours. One such company is the delightful Chinook ...Honey Company southwest of Okotoks, AB. Our team took a field trip to their farm and Country Store earlier this week, and we had a great time learning about and watching bees; seeing the soaps, lotions, bath bombs and more that we manufacture for them there in their Country Store; tasting meads; and visiting without kitty Marmalade. If you’re in the area, we highly recommend paying them a visit! #localhoney #shoplocalalberta #supportsmallbusiness
