I own about two pink items of clothing thanks to my naturally rosy complexion that I don't wish to enhance any further, but I'm thankful White Point Photography captured me sporting one of them to share today in support of Pink Shirt Day. In its 14th year now, the global campaign began in Canada when two little boys, David and Travis, took a stand to a bully who harassed and threatened one of their classmates who was wearing pink. Not only has #pinkshirtday created a... community that wants to see an end to bullying, but the campaign celebrates diversity, being kind, and speaking up for what is right. But bullying doesn't just exist in schools. It is any behaviour that makes someone else feel afraid or hurt. My hope is that this campaign continues to educate not just students, teachers, and schools on how to stop bullying, but truly hits home how this cruelty, either in person or online, can impact its victims for the remainder of their lives. Which is why I am sharing today - a reminder that anyone can be the victim of bullying and that anyone can contribute to the community that makes the world a kinder place. Bonus: from an analytical social media marketer perspective, there is such an irony that so many folks are also posting that 'on Wednesdays, we wear pink!' from Mean Girls, a movie about the ultimate bullies. Something to consider! See more

A Happy Pancake Tuesday to all the other lovers of having breakfast for dinner! Pictured are my absolute FAVORITE restaurant pancakes: the GF banana pecan pancakes from The Moth Cafe (which DO NOT appear to be on the menu anymore....) Did you have pancakes today?

Marketing is a funny business. There is SO much pressure to keep up with holidays and create content to fit the occasion and it can truly be exhausting. I racked my brain all day yesterday for something fitting to post that would encapsulate Valentine's Day, Family Day, and the long weekend all in one. But I kept getting distracted by leftover birthday cake, spending time running errands with Evan, and playing Dominion online. You know, life stuff. After hours spent st...ressing, I finally decided to purposely not post and share this experience that I'm sure many others have had. (As well as this fitting tweet) My approach to social media content creation is a sustainable one. Instead of creating inauthentic content just for the sake of posting on a holiday, it's so much better to post a genuine story, something your community really cares about, on your schedule. Content is valuable, yes, but creating one post shouldn't become a harrowing experience. If you're really stressing - let's chat!
