Almost Home's clothing drive-around is set for Saturday, Nov 28th. The time spent in the hospital beside a preterm baby can be one of the most stressful and emotional journeys in a parent’s life. Today, staff and families in th...e NICU are donning purple masks and uniforms to recognize World Prematurity Day while protecting each other and their newborns. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at KHSC cares for over 400 vulnerable babies each year and is one of a handful of Level 3 NICU’s in the province. This means we are able to provide the highest, most acute level of care to fragile, sick babies from across our region. The 28th Anniversary of Almost Home Today we celebrate Almost Home’s 28th year as Kingston’s home for families with sick or injured kids. We would like to take this time to recognize the thousands of volunteers who have, throughout the years, dedicated their time to making sure the families who stay at Almost Home are supported and cared for. Thank you to the day-to-day volunteers who show up for their weekly shifts. Thank you to our dedicated board of directors who guide and... protect Almost Home. Thank you to the people who show up and fix things and who help decorate, garden, and curate our books and movies. Almost Home could not exist without out you, and without the great culture of volunteerism that beats in Kingston’s heart. Thank you also to those who donate to Almost Home and sponsor our events and fundraising activities. Your support is the lifeblood of our charity and we appreciate and rely on every donation we receive. We hope that next year we can be together to celebrate, but for now, please know that your work is appreciated and vital. Thank you for being part of the team keeping our big yellow door open.
