In an effort to further pressure the federal government to finally provide the help, and more importantly present a recovery plan our industry so desperately needs, ALPA Canada launched the next phase of their campaign. They are asking you to help spread their message by taking part in the updated Twitter campaign that tells Canada’s elected officials the aviation industry is worth supporting, and that supporting Canadian aviation is an investment in Canada’s future. Now more than ever, we need your help to amplify our message to the Canadian government to finally provide the airline industry with much needed relief. The jobs of more than 140,000 aviation workers and the nation’s economic recovery are in jeopardy. Please add your voice to make sure our message is heard loud and clear by your member of Parliament, the prime minister, and the ministers of finance and of transport: Canada’s aviation industry is worth supporting and needs assistance now! Even if you’ve tweeted before, join this new Call to Action to keep up the pressure! https://alpa.quorum.us/campaign/31597/

A year into the pandemic, the federal government has yet to provide substantive support for our industry, leaving the jobs of Canada’s aviation workers, as well as the nation's economic recovery, in jeopardy. Tell Canada’s elected officials that the aviation industry needs help now. Participation is simple with our Call to Action form. https://bit.ly/3pB2uog

Over the past number of months, we have worked hard to increase our presence in the public eye. We have done this by employing a variety of communications tools including traditional methods such as press releases, media statements and interviews. We have also made significant strides to improve our social media output on the following channels: ALPA Canada Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and now our LinkedIn page. If you aren’t already following our channels, please do so now by clicking on the links above. And now we are excited to share our latest video with you. We are asking you, and our colleagues across the aviation sector to share this video on all of your social media channels. https://bit.ly/3jWEcUu

ALPA Canada 25.01.2021

After more than 10 months of advocating on behalf of our members, we are disappointed that the federal government has yet to provide a substantive, labour-focused support package for the aviation industry, said ALPA Canada President Tim Perry. Their inaction means that jobs continue to be lost threatening, among other things, the industry’s future and Canada’s broader economic recovery. ALPA Canada’s position to the government on how to help the industry weather the storm... has remained consistent since the beginning of the pandemicwork with us and other aviation stakeholders to fully assess solutions that protect workers now and ensures a strong, stable aviation industry for all Canadians when travel demand resumes. To further illustrate the point, ALPA Canada’s new video encourages its members and their colleagues across the aviation sector to share it on all of their social media channels. https://bit.ly/3jWEcUu See more

Thanks to the efforts of our members, their families, friends and other industry stakeholders, our petition for the Federal Government to implement an aviation-specific financial sustainability program with strong labour protections that provides direct support to airlines that have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic; sits at nearly 15,000 signatures. We would like to offer a big thank you to Todd Doherty, MP who will present our petition in the House of Commons today. With the submission, the government now has 45 days to issue a formal response.
