We removed a 113 year old concrete retaining wall in East Van yesterday. After pulling it over, we broke it up, took it away, then cut a 45 degree slope into the earth behind it. The last time we removed a wall of this vintage, it was reinforced with old bed frames and other antique metal junk. Fortunately, this one wasn't reinforced at all. Imagine how different this neighbourhood looked 113 years ago!
