In this beautiful ayah Allah tells us that he responds to our duaa. Allah is able to do all things, and he hears our prayers and responds to them. Sometimes Allah responds right away, sometimes Allah waits for the opportune moment to respond, and sometimes Allah gives us something better than what we had asked for, but never give up hope and never say "Allah did not answer my prayers." Allah then continues to say "Respond to me and believe in me so that you may be rightly guided." Allah will answer our prayers, and all Allah is asking in return is that we believe in Him (SWT) and follow Allah (SWT)'s commands. Whenever things look bleak and you cannot see a way out, make a duaa. Never forget the power of duaa.

This verse is a reminder to us that Allah (SWT) does not need our worship, and Allah is not at all diminished in any way when his creation does evil. Rather, we need Allah. Every act of worship and act of good we do, Allah does not need it, but we need it to humble us, to strengthen our relationship with Allah, or to have our sins forgiven. In the verse Allah (SWT) describes Himself as Al-Ghani, The Rich/ Self-sufficient/Not in need. In Surat Abasa, Allah refers to the Makkan... chiefs who opposed Islam with the word Istaghna [Quran 80:5] meaning the one who thinks himself not in need/Self-sufficient. Those Makkan chiefs thought they were not in need of Allah and Allah’s message when it was Allah who gave them life and a beating heart and air to breathe and water to drink, and to Allah (SWT) is our return. Let us not be blinded to the fact that, although we were given tools to work with in this life, it is all ultimately from Allah. Nothing can happen without Allah’s permission, but also do not forget the power of duaa. May Allah guide us aright and keep us steady on the path of righteousness, and allow us to attain Paradise.
