Al's Walking Tour of Tilting and Oliver’s Cove 01.12.2020

Sure going to miss doing the walking tour with guest from away this season. The scenery, the folklore, the walk itself, the shed, the music and the wonderful chats are all great memories and now looking forward to next year. We will see what happens to folks within the province this summer for the situation is very fluid for sure. On the trail this morning I encountered two visitors from the far north, an iceberg which arrive around this time each year and a rare sight around here , an Arctic fox. Guess it came down on the ice and is now stranded until at least next year. The iceberg left a gift; iceberg ice which will go great in the drinks that we savour. Very common in Newfoundland freezers this time of year. Stay safe and can’t wait to welcome you back.

On my last trip to Fogo Island, one of my favourite parts was a walking tour with Al's Walking Tour of Tilting and Oliver’s Cove. Check out my post...and look f...or a little video of Al singing. Thank you Al Dwyer for the tour, your friendship, and help in sharing this story on my blog! I'm looking forward to returning to Newfoundland this summer. I'll miss iceberg season but, I've tried to time my visit with the whales! See more

The Devils Rocking Chair taking a beating from the wild Atlantic today. Can be so peaceful yet so wild. Would not want to be sitting in that chair today.

For folks who still plan on visiting our island during the late fall and winter I am offering an inland hike on the snowmobile trail to a warm cosy cabin where a hot drink, a yarn, and a song or two can happen. An opportunity for snowshoeing can be arranged as well. Have a great Christmas and all the best in the new year.
