ALS Society of Saskatchewan 24.11.2020

This morning the ALS Best Practice Recommendations (BPRs) were published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ). Developed over a number of years by a working group of Canadian ALS clinicians chaired by Dr. Christen Shoesmith, Medical Director of the London Health Sciences Centre ALS Clinic, the BPRs are a reference point for the type of clinical care Canadians living with ALS should receive. They address a broad range of topics, ranging from delivery of an ALS d...iagnosis and disease-related treatment to nutrition management, caregiver burden and support, palliative care and medical assistance in dying. With the new guideline, people living with ALS in Canada, their families and healthcare providers are also empowered to make informed, collaborative decisions and advocate for optimal care consistent with best available evidence and expert consensus. Here is a petition being brought forward in the ALS community to have the way the approval of new drugs and treatments are processed by our federal government can be accelerated to match the speed in which the disease affects those it touches. Please take a look and sign the petition if you are in favor of what is proposed. Have a great day! https://petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/Petition/Details

Because of the fundraising efforts of Walk to End ALS participants and the generosity of partners like la Fondation Vincent Bourque and MT Pharma Canada, the ALS Canada Research Program is able to give hope to Canadians living with ALS for #aFuturewithoutALS. https://www.als.ca//als-doesnt-stop-so-neither-can-resear/
