Back in August we were at Fort Walsh National Historic Site in South Western Saskatchewan. We did the 5km Battle Creek Trail to the very disappointing Cypress Hills Massacre Site. There was nothing to see but a plaque with smallest tidbit of the history behind it. On the way back out I did see this dinner plate sized rock with some green rock shield or rock-shield lichens in the shape of a cougar paw print. What do you do in the middle of the night when you can't sleep? I go outside to freeze my butt off and listen to the coyotes yip and yap until you hear a wolf, and then the coyotes go silent. It kind of reminds me of the person, you know the one, they think they know all, and tell you they know all, but in reality they are full of hot air and themselves. When you call that person out on their behavior they go silent. We as humans are imperfect beings, no one knows all, it i...s okay to say I don't know, or I am not Okay. Finally! Last night, for the first time in weeks, we have had a clear sky at sunset. It was just a few minutes after sunset where the Jupiter, Saturn conjunction were visible. These alignments are rare so it gives every photographer in the world a shot a getting at least one of them. On the way into town yesterday we passed by this Great Grey Owl on the hunt. It never ceases to amaze me how silent they are when they fly. Such a large bird moving that many large feathers through the air and not one sound. Evolution in hunting when your ears are your advantage.
