No matter who you are, where you came from, what your race is, or how you identify - one thing remains the same; this was the home from which we journied earthside. Placentas are simply amazing.

Nanny's got a lot of wisdom to give her great granddaughter, best to begin on her first day of life

As a daughter I can attest that there's nothing like the feeling of your mother's fingers running through your hair. These same hands that prepared her ponytail on the first day of kindergarten now weave the braid she'll wear during the birth of her very own daughter.

Perhaps this wasn't how dad imagined meeting his daughter for the first time but I think their story played out exactly how it was meant to. A moment that stole my breath, a moment just for them.

One thing I always make sure to capture at a birth is the use of cell phones. They're such a large part of our lives right now, even in a birth space, we use them to document, to track contractions... But that's today and tomorrow these pocket sized gadgets are bound to be a thing of the past! . I love the idea of my clients sitting down 15-20 years from now with their not-so-little-anymore kiddo, flipping through their birth story album, and having to actually explain what these things were! Such a crazy thought right? But it just goes to show that your story IS a piece of history! . Tell me your theories about cell phones and how long you think it will be before they aren't a thing anymore!

A birth story is much more than the climax. I think my favourite part of this work is entering the space and looking for moments like this, the things nobody else thinks to admire but still hold so much power. My job is to look deeper and give my clients the whispered words of their story.

I just can't help but to be in love with these fleeting moments. When stilled, the magic of motherhood becomes tangible

Every birth has an I DID IT moment. This momma specifically requested pictures of the moment her baby was placed on her chest and she saw her little girl for the first time. A moment she could anticipate, but did she ever imagine how beautiful, how powerful the seconds that followed would be? This was her "I did it" moment and what a moment it was @ Barrie, Ontario

Remember your magic Remember you're magic

This was one of the most beautiful moments of this birth story. Shelby's nanny (despite her body not quite moving the way it used to) actually ran through the door to her granddaughters bedside before promptly bursting into joyful tears. She had kept her cool all the way through the hospital but just couldn't wait any longer to lay eyes on her great granddaughter.

Swooning over this absolutely stunning mother daughter moment

So pure So peaceful This is what becoming a parent looks like Discovering a love so strong you didn’t even know it could exist Nothing in the world matters but the sweet little being you created... Finally here Nothing to do but rest your chin on the back of your hands and just behold all of the beauty before you A symphony for the senses Nothing to say so you close your eyes and ride that wave of relief, fingertips grazing the full head of hair you created This These moments, are how I know I was meant to document birth See more

Is it poor business practice to let your activity online ebb and flow? Is it wrong to put your real, authentic life before social media? . My opinion? No, it’s not. . Lately I’ve become hyper aware of the amount of time I spend looking at my phone and what I’m missing out on in my life as I scroll through everyone else's. How many of us can say that we know the simplicity of just sipping a cup of coffee in the morning and doing nothing but appreciating it’s warmth and the qui...et around us? Society is getting farther and farther out of touch from what it means to be human. The way we live, with the constant pressure to look better, be better, and do more... It’s just not natural and I for one welcome the idea of slowing down. Forget what everyone else thinks, you guys, post when you feel like posting and if you’re too busy living your life and making memories don’t sweat it! When you’re old and gray, when your body doesn’t move like it used to and you can’t just go on a hike or see your favourite band in concert anymore; you won’t be wishing you’d spent more time curating your feed or done more research on the Instagram algorithm Hell. No. You’ll be wishing that you had broken out of todays brainwashed state and just lived your life authentically, in the moment, and revelled in every second of it. . So my friends, when I disappear for a couple of days here and there just know that I’m taking time to enjoy my life, I’m doing so without shame or regret, and I encourage YOU to do the same. It's the way you're smiling at me, it's in the way you hold my hand Didn't used to know how fast time walks and runs and flies by I never thought I'd feel so deeply, but damn, I do
