At 8:45 pm, ARES was called to a vehicle fire in Rosetown. Vehicle was fully involved and was a total loss. The attached trailer was saved. There were no injuries.

We should hesitate to call firefighters heroes just because they are firefighters. Heroism is an action word and indicates sacrifice. Heroes come in all shapes, sizes and professions. Firefighters are, however, called upon to be ready to go into harm's way. They take the job knowing that they may be called to walk towards the danger when the prudent thing to do for most people is to go the other way. On September 11, 2001, 2,977 people were killed during the terrorist attacks... in New York. 343 of them were firefighters. Many of them were in the process of climbing the 110 floors of the World Trade Center towers, towards the fire, knowing only that people needed rescuing, not knowing that they would never complete that rescue. They answered the call, and became heroes. So on training night on Monday, as part of the anniversary of 9/11, ARES firefighters donned full gear and climbed up and down the rescue tower to honour the fallen firefighters of 9/11. Each firefighter climbed 16 flights of stairs in full gear, for a total of 150 flights. We will never forget. See more

At 6:43 am, ARES responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle accident east of Altona. RCMP and EMS also attended. There were minor injuries.

At 10pm last night ARES was called to a structure fire near the town Altona. On arrival the homeowner informed the fire department that this was a ‘controlled burn’ and he was watching it as he was cleaning up an old shed. The fire was extinguished. EMS, Town of Altona police, RCMP, and MB Hydro attended.... Check with your local Town/RM or Fire authorities for burning regulations before starting a fire such as this.

At 4:23 pm, ARES responded to a structure fire west of altona. The structure, a barn, was fully involved and was a total loss. There were no injuries.
