This is my sister, Doctor @courtneydesouza getting vaccinated for COVID today. To say she is my hero is an understatement, because I truly don’t know the words to say to describe it other than that, HERO. I sometimes patiently listen to people bitch and complain about their year has been ruined, it’s a hoax, this is a political trick, and whatever the hell else stupidity people are spewing out instead of taking time to research and learn about what is actually going on... in the world. Are you married? Do you have children? Do you have grandchildren? Imagine your partner, child or grandchild going into the ER for diahreah, and the next day they are on life support, and then the next day the doctors like my sister, who works 12 hour days, has to make a phone call to say, please say your goodbyes, because this person is going to die today, you then have to get a zoom call from a person who may or may not even be responsive because you cannot go into the hospital to say good bye. (This is just one example of the many different types of experiences that people have had from COVID) My sister is a very strong young woman, and the many doctors, nurses and hospital staff have to struggle to get through the day due to treating Covid, which nurses I have talked to have said is basically watching people drown to death. What people don’t realize is if you just cooperate and follow the rules this will be over quicker, less people will have to lose loved ones. Instead of thinking of how your large family Christmas has been changed to a smaller one, be thankful that the people you usually spend time with are alive and you get to see them over zoom, instead of mourning them. Wear your mask, Wash your hands, Stay home, Count your blessings, Happy Holidays.
