One of my favorites! Conscious Humming!! Not the grandma baking in the kitchen kind of humming but the mindful, with intention focused humming. ... This beauty can be practiced anywhere AND you can't hum with an open mouth therefore you're also amplifying the nose breathing we talked about earlier this week. Do yourself a favor today and carve out 10min to sit in stillness and calm the breath. Begin by inviting awareness to your breath, scanning thru the body. Settling in. Follow with a full inhale thru the nose and begin to hum on the exhale. Completing the breath with humming for the full extension of the exhale. Repeat 5-7x (or longer if you find your groove) Pause. Rest in silence and scan the body. Take note of subtle or significant changes in mind and body. Carry on with your day! Repeat whenever you feel overwhelmed or anxious. It's also a great tool at bedtime as it releases melatonin and calms mind and body for rest. Try it and let me know how you're feeling! See more

Wearing a mask can feel suffocating for many but it doesn't have to. As with all forms of panic and anxiety it comes back to the awareness of breath. BEFORE putting your mask on take a moment to PAUSE. ... Remind yourself you are safe. Let the lips close, teeth come to touch, tongue rests at the roof of the mouth. Invite the breath to enter in thru the nose. Allow the breath to exit out thru the nose. Settle into this flow of breath and then place your mask on continuing to breathe in this mindful manner while wearing your mask. This simple yet effective breath may be the difference between a panicked or pleasant visit to the grocery store. And remember, soften your heart and let your eyes smile, you may just ease someone else's discomfort. Please reach out questions. Im taking a break. Retreating from the constant bustle of ideas, conspiracies, updates and flurry of information. Lately the overwhelm has been real. The wicked swings of highs to lows to everything in between in a matter of minutes, hours, days. ... Confusion, frustration, helplessness. At the mercy of another. Desperately working to remain in a state of trust, surrender and present moment awareness. Just as I avoid crowded rooms due to the varying energies and opinions I choose to step away from social media as a form of personal preservation. Ill be here, when the energy is available and the timing is right, but for now, I seek refuge in the pause. The removal of endless consumption that drains and only adds to the disruption of a solid foundation. I am aware of the light being shed on so many dark areas, the unveiling of necessary truths and the planetary healing. So in honoring all of this, including myself, I choose to embrace the pause and settle into the stillness. Some days are sunshine and mountains and other days are darkness and ugly crying. Its the complexity of being human. This weekend I took Saturday off of social media to detach from the ugliness of headlines and fear-inducing dialogues. ... I was hopeful to release some of the dense energy thats been compressing my skull!! But it didnt lift the weight. You see when youre an empath and highly sensitive, the energy doesnt come from reading articles, although that definitely amplifies it. The energy comes from being a deep feeler and being aware of the shifts taking place at a global level. Its not a choice, its an experience. A density in the forehead, similar to a headache but not as extreme. An unease in the tummy, like a feeling of butterflies. A rapid beating of the heart as if youve consumed too much caffeine. A lack of energy or motivation or an inability to focus or complete tasks. Check in with your children, the ones who are in tune may be experiencing greater difficulties dealing, wide swings of emotions, outbursts or exhaustion. Check in with yourself. Are you experiencing similar tendencies? Its time for extra compassion, rest and stillness. Go outside. Take a walk. Enjoy a warm bath. Journal. Color. Write. Dance. Meditate. Do yoga. Run. Disconnect from the external world as much as necessary to stay informed but not consumed. Ive said this before and I continue to stand firm in it. Honor yourself in the best way possible and let go of trying to fix anything. Right now, the best thing you can do for yourself is come back to you. Do the things that fill your heart and remind you of joy in life. And reach out as needed!! Youre not in this alone my friends. See more

You know the saying, change happens on the other side of comfort? Well so does healing! Were in a very stressful, confusing, uncertain time. We can all agree with that. And unfortunately for some, its a place weve been before. Obviously not in a pandemic sort of way, but in an emotionally similar container. And with that comes a deeper trauma response. But if we can ground ourselves enough to recognize this pattern we can then begin to work to pull ourselves out of the fea...r-based state and back into a settled state of reality. In order to do this, we have to be willing to push our limits. Challenge ourselves in new ways and create an opportunity to move the stagnant energy we are holding at a cellular level. Staying in routine and comfort at this time is not going to serve you or your wellbeing, even if it is a healthy lifestyle. You NEED temporary discomfort to invite the shifts. This doesnt mean huge leaps, it just means stepping out and trying new practices. If you lean into the comfort you will remain safe but true healing and freedom do not exist within comfort. So tell me, how are you going to challenge yourself today? Try a new yoga class, incorporate cardio into your day, try meditation for the first time? Drop your commitment in the comments and lets hold and encourage each other thru this!!

We have been engulfed in a fear-based mentality. With the recent global outbreak of the coronavirus we are inundated with media frenzies focusing on doom and gloom enhancing and encouraging fear. It is everywhere; from social media, email, the conversation with friends and family, we are surrounded. ... At this time it is imperative to pause, take a deep breath and ground back into the knowing that we are safe. There are no mistakes in life and at this time we are being gifted an opportunity for growth and awakening. In all of this chaos we have a choice. We can choose to live in fear and attract more of it into our lives or we can turn our faces to the light and realize the beauty unfolding around us. Families are becoming closer, the elderly are being cared for and the young are being guided into new opportunities. If you redirect your attention to gratitude and look for the lessons they are there, its up to you to seek them. This podcast is elevated with a Healing Light Meditation. Gratitude. Abundance. Joy.... That is what lingers after witnessing another powerful group of women rise up together. The Soul Journey Countryside Retreat was beyond what I could have ever imagined. The opening, the surrendering, the softening and the elevation was obvious in every woman there. A community of womanhood (a word downloaded in our opening intention, it captured my vision for the weekend) we joined together in heart and soul as we entered into the shadows to honor the very stories that have molded us into the version of self that we exist within today. Then through the allowance of our guidance we followed the breath into a deepening awareness of releasing, shedding the old and soaring into a rebirth. We cried, we laughed, we hid, we stepped up, supporting, encouraging, growing together we united as One. Today I still sit in wonder of the absolute perfection which unfolded in the brief time together. When you are in alignment with your soul the unfolding becomes effortless. Thank you ladies for reminding me of the importance of tribe and the healing in womanhood. See more

Lets drop the bantering, criticism and finger pointing. What if instead we all met in a place of compassion? A unity of support and discernment. ... I dont know where you all are at but Ive been on a wave of emotion these past few days. Judgement. Confusion. Awe. Uncertainty. Fear. Curiosity. Yes, Ive jumped on the judgment wagon easy enough to do when no one truly understands the implications of what were dealing with and we stand by caught up in ideals of our own. Ive even momentarily considered the fear wagon I do after all tend to be naive at times and live in a safe bubble away from media and external influences. Maybe I should be more aware? Then there are moments that Ive sat back and observed with curiosity. Grateful not to be the person in power that ultimately makes the decision that affects thousands, possibly millions. But heres the thing. Most of us have never been presented with such an extreme scenario. Could it be fact-based? Certainly. Could it be fear driven? Uh huh. The reality, we dont have control over anyone else but ourselves. So the way I see it, there is no better time for us to unite! Fact, fiction, fear, or my other favorite F word, lets come together and support each other through it!! Accept ourselves and others where we are. Feel whatever were feeling with curiosity and compassion and see if we can spread a little to our neighbors too. At the end of the day, were damned if we do and damned if we dont. So we may as well be doing it together! Oh and in case you forgot, heres your daily reminder to BREATHE through it!! See more

Something in me I often feel aversion toward ______ Fill in the blank. What in your life do you habitually avoid?... Take a deep breath, relax your jaw, soften into your heart center, continuing to take long mindful breaths, ask yourself again as you allow your awareness to drop internally let the eyes close. Let the answer come to you intuitively. Share your answer below. As we open dialogue we create a safe space for others to be seen and an understanding that were all more intimately connected than we truly understand. Years ago during a retreat we were asked to settle into meditation and begin to visualize ourselves in our happy place. Internally I was struggling, a surge of overwhelm rushed through my veins as I forcefully pictured myself on a beautiful beach with the sun shining brightly and the waves gently rolling into shore. Palm trees and soft white sandy beaches. As picturesque as the vision was I continued to battle a sense of discomfort. I couldnt settle into this paradise and FEEL the expression of happiness no matter how much I focused and willed myself. Until she switched things up and asked us to invite the darkness to join us. Permission to invite our shadows to join alongside the happiness, it was meant to be an experience of recognizing that the two could potentially co-exist but that happiness would lead. The minute she dropped that suggestion into the journey I immediately entered into a state of deep peace. A wash of relief flowed through as my familiar state of heavy energy pushed out any light and I settled back into the dark. I felt my entire body ease. I was safe. And then the reality struck me with a surge of emotion, my tears began to flow. I had conditioned myself to live safely among the dense emotions, wearing them as a heavy cloak I felt protected and safe. But in doing so I had completely detached from the ability to create any space in my life for the lighter energies of joy and happiness. I was trapped in my own suffering, an aversion to happiness, protecting myself from joy. The avoidance wasnt the dark, it was the light. See more

True Healing Begins in the Shadows. The Shadows? When I reference the shadows I am referring to the areas of avoidance. The experiences or emotions that wed rather tip toe around than face head on. The heavy emotions of betrayal, guilt, shame, grief, anger and so on. ... They may appear as a density in the body, tension or tightness, a lump in the throat or a knot in the stomach. Or maybe we are completely unaware of them as weve tucked them so tightly within. They are quite literally the baggage that we carry around and convince ourselves and everyone around us that we are fine. Until were not. Cracks in the walls begin to spread and weaken the protective armor weve so carefully crafted to keep the reality trapped inside. An illusion of a life lived with love and light begins to crumble as our truth bubbles to the surface. Presenting itself in subtle ways such as silent tears, unwarranted outbreaks of anger, blame and redirected focus onto others. We become masters of believing we are justified in our actions because we continue to avoid the real work lurking in the darkness. An easy go to we are lead to unhealthy habits, binge drinking, drugs, excessive workouts or emotional eating as tools weve leaned on for comfort in the past but they too have fallen short. The reality remains, we must visit the untouched territory. We must learn to enter the shadows and free ourselves from the grips of the dark in order to truly embrace the light. Its not easy work but Ill guide you there, together well bring it forward and offer the expression necessary to shift, release and heal. Still unsure? Questions? There was a time when returning home would send me into a complete tail spin. Overwhelm, fear, and anxiety would wash over me as the reality of my life awaiting would slam into me. Panic consumed me as resistance boiled over. I didnt want to go home. Id come to believe that happiness could only be achieved by the ocean or somewhere exotic, peaceful, and calm. Symbolic of palm trees and expansive beaches I wanted to stay forever. ... I believed that the solutions I was seeking existed externally and were only attainable if I lived among them. It never once occurred to me that the peace I so desperately sought could only be delivered to me by me. "Everywhere you go, there you are." Was a quote Id heard several times but in my mind I believed it meant, no matter where you travelled, your story would follow. You couldnt escape it. I was so caught up in living a life in the shadows of sadness, guilt and shame that I never once considered it to mean that I was also responsible for the light, the love and the joy! Now when I travel home I remind myself of this quote and I choose to focus on the foundation of internal awareness. You see, we can live a life choosing to believe that darkness will follow us and happiness only exists beyond our day to day life or we can enter into a realization that it is up to us to discover this peace within and carry it with us wherever our travels may lead. You may still find a deeper sense of peace among the sunshine and ocean breezes but youll also come to learn to carry it home with you. See more

I AM SAFE. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, let your exhale wash away any tension and repeat 3x to yourself. I AM SAFE. ... What sensations arise within? Are you able to believe this statement and know it to be true? Does tension appear in the body or other sensations related to doubt? The occurrence of trauma creates a disconnect from the root chakra. The first energy vortex located at the base of the spine which reminds us of security and grounds us into the present moment. When this disconnect happens we begin to question our safety and life as we once understood it to be. It then begins to influence every decision moving forward as we allow fear to dominate and control our lives. This is quite common in people who experience anxiety or nervousness, always fearful of something bad happening. When this becomes apparent it is important to activate the root chakra and clear any blockages, densities or heavy energy trapped in this area. This can be done through reiki, a focused yoga practice dedicated to the root chakra or by being outdoors and fully immersing yourself into the energies of mother earth. In my second episode of The Unbroken Soul I offer a brief introduction to triggers, a side effect of low energy in the root chakra and how to anchor yourself back into the present moment. These tools can also be used as a support anytime, anywhere. If you experience extreme anxiety it may be necessary to reach out and ask for help to dissolve and move whatever you may be holding onto.
