Yesterday was kind of a big deal over here because I officially opened the virtual doors to my September Whole30 group coaching program!! I know it's early, but I already just love our group of ladies! We have such a great mix of women who have never done a Whole30 and a few Whole30 veterans who are back for more. Mark your calendars because the September Whole30 is comin up! If youre all - whatchu talkin bout Whole30?... Let me explain! This is the 30-day self experiment that literally changed everything for me. When I did my very first Whole30 back in 2015, I thought I already knew a ton about food and the foods I should be eating. Fast-forward 30days later after completing my first round, and I was shocked at how much energy I had, how vibrant my skin looked, how much better I ...was sleeping and how loose my clothes were fitting. The thing is, after completing the Whole30 I had retrained my body to crave real whole foods instead of the sugar and carbs I was used to. If youre giving me an internal eye roll right now, I get it - I would have done the same thing if someone tried to explain that to me 5 years ago. But until you give this experiment a try for yourself, you wont understand how it can truly change your life. So what is the Whole30? Think of it as setting the reset button with your health, your habits and your mindset around food. If youve ever struggled with your energy levels, lack of sleep, poor digestion, aches and pains or stubborn weight, you might be surprised to find out, these symptoms could be directly related to the food you eat- even the healthy stuff. For 30-days we eliminate foods that are known to promote unhealthy cravings and habits, disrupt your metabolism, damage your digestive tract and put an overall burden on your body. Then after 30-days, we carefully reintroduce these foods and pay careful attention to how they impact you in various ways. One of the things I loved about doing the @whole30 for the first time was that I realized how easy it was to make so many staples from scratch, including this super simple mayo! I also learned that the REASON making staples from scratch was so important was because the store-bought versions contained so many additives, sugars and generally poor quality oils that can cause us to feel crappy! This week I was supposed to be in PEI visiting my fam jam, checking out my wedding venue, and soaking up the East coast lifestyle. I talk a lot about the @whole30 on my blog and social media channels because I've realized it's the ONE thing I can suggest to almost every single client struggling with their energy levels, lack of sleep, weight, cravings and more that will ACTUALLY have a pretty dramatic effect on how they feel at the end. It's not that we don't know how to eat. We all know what foods are "good" for us and what foods are making feel crappy. Or do we? You see the thing about Whole30 is that ...we eliminate even those foods that you THINK are healthy for you, which might actually be causing you some pretty annoying side effects. Side effects that you wouldn't ever pinpoint to food until you gave it a try for yourself. The ingredient list on a food product is wildly more important to me than the nutrition facts. In fact, I rarely even look at the nutrition facts when I'm shopping! The fewer ingredients a product has listed the better. It drive me nuts when foods are marketed as a "health" food, but then you try and read the ingredient list and you have no idea what 90% of the stuff even is. OR it's marketed as a health food but then it's filled with tons of added sugars ... You guys, if you want to start making healthy changes to your diet, start choosing foods that don't have labels. Choose fresh ingredients and learn to make even just a few simple staples at home.

If you've ever had a one-on-one consultation with me, done my 14 day detox or participated in a @Whole30 with me, then you would have gotten the recipe for my my all-time favourite chia pudding recipe. I love this recipe so much, it's like the one thing I recommend to pretty much everyone. I've made it a few different ways over the past few years, but I think this strawberry version is the best so far. The recipe makes about three servings so I prepare them in three mini ma...son jars so each jar is a serving. They're perfect for breakfast or a mid-afternoon snack because they're full of healthy fats and fiber to keep you feeling full and satisfied. All you need to make it is: - 1 can of full-fat coconut milk - 1 tsp vanilla - 3/4 cup frozen organic strawberries - 4 Tbsp. chia seeds All you do is blend everything EXCEPT the chia seeds in a blender, food processor, NutraBullet (whatever you have) until everything is smooth. Then hand mix in the chia seeds so they keep their gelatinous texture (sooo good!). Pour the mixture into three small jars and let them set in the fridge for a few hours. You can top it with sliced almonds for some added crunch too! One last thing strawberries have been number one on the #dirtydozen list for the past few years, so make sure you're buying organic strawberries!! I always buy mine frozen from Costco, especially in the off season.
